Question about toddlers on rides

It seems like I should know this, I constantly read these forums and I've been to WDW several times. However, this will be our first time with an 18 month old.

As long as the ride does not have a height limit, does that mean my 18 month old can come on the ride with me? For example, Peter Pan or Pooh or the safari in AK? I know well what I can and can't do pregnant, but now that he's out, I am less sure! ;)

Most attractions without a height requirement mean that your little one can participate. I think Maelstrom - at the Norway Pavilion in Epcot - stresses an age limit of 3 or older, rather than a height limit. You'll want to used your judgment about things that can be scary like the Thunder & LIghtning effects in the Enchanted Tiki Room, etc. The fact that you've been there before gives you an advantage because you are familiar with the ride.

We rode Peter Pan with our daughter when she was 18 months old and have since joked that it is the scariest ride at WDW because the visual things are all down below and our daughter kept trying to dive over the side to see things. It was like an upper-body workout. You'll be able to ride Pooh and the Safari, etc.

Here's a good article about Epcot with little ones: http://www.buildabettermousetrip.com/article-epcot-with-young-children.html

I hope this helps at least a little.

yep, they can go on anything without a height restrictions - so almost everything! My ds was 23 months last trip and he had a blast!

Agree with pp about scary stuff... Ds was fine with Maelstrom (most of it) but Pirates really did scare him a bit - it all depends on the Child. Peter Pan was great, so was Pooh...

Yes, I agree with the PP, as long as there isn't a height restriction they can ride anything. We took our children this past October and they were 25 months and 11 months. They loved everything - Pirates, Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion, etc. This time we're going to try Snow White (just didn't have time last time).

The only issue I had was stepping off the rides that don't stop with a child in my arms. And since DH had one in his arms too, he couldn't really help me because he was balancing himself. But, I managed. Thank goodness for sensible shoes. :lmao:

I agree, if it is not posted otherwise, you should be okay. We've never had any problems, and one of our has a disability that limits her mobility. With help balancing, she does fine.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I thought that was the case, but wasn't sure. Luckily, we will have my mother-in-law with us, so she could always take the little guy if necessary (so we can ride with our 4-year old).

But it's good to know your options!

When we went last March my 2 youngest were 5 months and a newly turned 2 yr old and they both were able to go on all the rides with me with no height restrictions..such as Winnie the Pooh, Its a Small World, Peter Pan, etc etc. Have fun! I'll have toddlers still this year when we go but I will also be pg this year too which will limit what I can do.
