If both my husband and I have AP's and we buy the TIW for him, do i have to have it if it is always being used when we are together?

second question about a TIW card, if he has the TIW card and only he and I have AP's can we still use the TIW card when our 7 kids are with us? it would be 9 of us total and it says the TIW can be used for 10 guests.

Thanks!

You don't need it. I've found that some places are stingy with the person who's name is on the card has to be the one to pay, but that's only been a handful of times.
You can still use the card for anyone as long as it's under 10! :)

The TIW Terms of Service explicitly state that the person whose name is on the card must pay. If you have experienced otherwise you have experienced "Pixie Dust"

We have been buying the card for years. I usually get the card in my name and we don't buy the extra one for him. He has been able to use it at the beverage kiosks & @ Rose & Crown in EP and at various places in AK and at the store at SSR without me being with him when he stops to buy beer. Other than when he's buying beer we're almost always together for meals as a family or couple so I just pay with my magic band when we're at a restaurant. It's never been a problem. We've never needed an extra card. Not worth the cost IMHO.

I'm confused. Are you asking if you need 2 TiW cards, one for you and one for him?
We have 1, in my name. DH and I are always together. Which of us actually pays the bill varies greatly. At no time has anyone ever required me, the person on the TiW card to give over my band and my band only. And we've hit over 75% of the dining locations on property.
I do give them my ID but they haven't ever cared which of us pays
I can't imagine we are supposed to have 1 for each of us, unless we plan to eat apart at any time.

In practice they don't call you on matching last names...but there are times when the manager approving sticks to letter of ID verification.

I'd say your chances of never hearing a word about it are 90%...but as stated...that's no guarantee.

Yes...that's what she is asking...and it rarely ever comes up/matters.

But yes...technically the card is good for only the person named on it. They sell secondary cards for more money

No, you only need one. The spouse/partner card would be if you two travel apart, or say are local and often go without the other. Only one year did I get the extra card and that was for my DD who was there a year working. Her CM discount did not include alcohol, some timeframes for meals etc so the TiW was a good deal for her at $50.

I have been asked for TiW card and ID. I am usually paying so no questions there. We have been with bigger groups, my card covered the 10, if my DD were there with hers it would have covered 20. In those few large groups I paid then after everyone gave me cash. I think the issue with who pays may more likely be enforced with bigger groups when folks might want to try to split the check or charge to their rooms. Only once did my experience vary and that was SciFi where they obviously couldn't sit us together. Because that was on them, they applied it to each car.

In practice you are 100% correct...

By I do believe that officially there is no spousal benefit and the second card is restricted to same household. Crazy but I believe true.

Yes, as someone else stated, that is what I'm asking. ON the TIW information it says an additional one for a spouse (or family member or household member??) can purchase a second one for $50. I just wanted to make sure we could use one together without the need for the second one.

Correct...that's the policy.

The "unofficial" is that you realistically don't need a second...
But as you identified...that's not "official"

Got it.
You'll be good with one. Only need that 2nd if you don't plan to be together all the time.
Just make sure whoever's name is on the card has their ID. I have always had to show that with the card.

The do not officially require both the husband and wife, dining together, to have one. As long as the named person is at the table and has their ID, only 1 is needed. And within the policy
They offer a 2nd one for the same family, at a discount, for times when you aren't together.

Another question if you both have one (one for $150 and another for $50) can you each pay for 10 people or 20 total?

Yes

  • The Tables in Wonderland discount is good for up to 10 people including the member, as long as everyone is on the same check, and the Tables in Wonderland member is paying the bill. If you have the Tables in Wonderland card, and your spouse or partner has the Tables in Wonderland secondary card, together you may cover up to 20 people (including the member and his/her spouse/partner). Both members must live at the same address and be 21 years of age or older.

ANother question, do they have to be purchased at the same time? Or can We buy the add on card later?

I don't know, I purchased mine together. If I had to guess I will say they might let you add later but it would probably still have same expire as the original to prevent folks from getting 2/1 years.

Yes. Your situation is pretty much identical to ours..... Two of us, TIW in my name, No issues. But we ALSO always eat together.
I may bring guests - up to 10 TOTAL people (including wife and I).
What MUST happen: I pay the bill. CC matching the name on the TIW card, and WDW MAY ask for DL verification.

Given your situation description? You should be Golden :).
