My husband and I plan on bringing my parents down in the fall. We have PAPs already. After reading the posts here, is it correct that my parents cannot purchase a LOS (or whatever they are called now!) unless we all do? We are planning on going down for about 10 days, if they cannot what would you recommend they purchase as far as a ticket? My husband and I plan on going to the parks every day.

Two years ago we were allowed to purchase the discounted LOS passes for our guests even though we had APs. I don't know if this is usual or if someone slipped up.

There is no current requirement that all members must purchase a LOS pass with DVC, esp if some have passes already. Do not worry. You should even be able to get the 10% off since you will be with them.

We were there at Easter. The three of us have PAPs. My mother had no pass. We bought her an UMP (LOS, whatever they call it now) at the OKW desk. No problem.

you may purchase LOS passes for a portion of your group if the rest of your group has annual passes. Last December they would not let the people in our group who were only staying for part of the time, buy a LOS for a shorter time than the rest of our group's LOS (did I make sense?) Anyway, in your situation , you should be able to get your parents LOS without any problem.

Can the 10% discount off LOS passes be applied to guests who are renting points from the DVC owner?

Have you compared the price of a 10 day LOS pass compared to a regular AP? It might be a better deal.

Reports on this are mixed. The policy says those who are renting points are not entitled to DVC member benefits (which include the 10% discount on LOS passes). However, some posters say that their renters did receive the discount. It appears to depend on the CM that checks them in.

Though that's the rules, I have not heard of them denying the discount to anyone staying on points whether member, renter or guest. Does anyone know if the discount being denied.

While I have never rented points to anyone, I have given each of my office staff trips to OKW. Some have been 3 times now. Each time they have been able to purchase LOS passes with the discount and use all features of their guest status.

They were truly guests and had ID's stating "DVC Member", but in reality, renters will have the same identification and the resort has no way to tell otherwise. Some have also reported that they told MS that a reservation was a rental and the renters still got the same identification on their room ID's.

Enjoy!

Is the 10% discount on the los passes off the Disney club price or the reg price only?

The DVC discount applies to the full price. You can't combine with other discounts.
