Question about Tickets bought in order to get the FD.

I have a question and PLEASE don't flame me. I have absolutley NO clue if this is feasible/legal/bad taste or OK. We just got back from Disney in Feb but my sister, DH and her daughter, SIL and her grandson are trying to put together a trip for Sept to take advantage of the FD.

I'd like to go then but I am not sure about the heat. I might die. But we definitely want to go back this year IF I don't relent and die (or spend the week in the room so I don't) in Sept but I had a thought. My sister's husband is retired military (SOG cost him too much than they want to pay and she just lost her job after like 17 years) so they are thinking of purchasing the 99.00 5 day ticket for him and her but they still have to purchase a 1 day ticket's in order to get the free dining (correct?). Well if they do then could we buy from her their unused 1 day ticket and use it for our later trip during the year if I don't relent?

Disney will put the 1 day ticket on their room key with their names on it. I don't think this would work for you.

I think you could use their 1-day ticket if it remains unused when you return. I know that every MYW ticket is will be encoded with the finger scan information. Assuming that their tickets were never used and scanned, I would think it would fine. However, upgrading that ticket could be problematic because it would still show their name on it.
Please correct me if I am wrong.:goodvibes

yes you could use their 1 day tickets as long as they were never used before. We had several 1 day tickets left over from a free dining trip last summer that I used myself on a quick trip this past December. It didn't matter whose name was on them, although I didn't try to upgrade them either. I don't think it would be a problem to upgrade them even with someone else's name on them.

I had asked this question about these one day passes, of which we will have 4 when we go in May, and was told that as long as they are not used anyone can use them (even though they have our names on them) and upgrade. I really hope this is true since we kind of have a collection now!! We are AP holders and are getting them with FD and now the $500 gift card. Our APs expire in May so maybe one of these will be for a new AP (that is if our next trip doesn't require a 1 day)

We will have 3 one-day passes from 2 different trips. Since we are AP holders, we won't be using these passes. We had some tickets as far back as 2006. Do you think that some of family members use the tickets for upgrades?? I like to think that since we are not really taking advantage of Disney, it would be OK with them.
Appreciate any input.:worship:

I asked this question a few weeks ago and was told that I could do that. It would be great if it's true. I haven't tried it yet. I just hope this tickets are still good!!

We have done this. Last year during FD in we ended up with four 1 day passes.I used all four 1 day passes while the other people in our party used tickets from a previous trip.:thumbsup2

If you want to avoid the whole name on the KTTW thing, ask guest services to separate the 1-day ticket from the KTTW card. This can be done and is advised by a lot of people here, so that you don't accidentally use the ticket during your trip.

Yes, we tried a number of times on our Sept trip to do this. The front desk and guest services both said it could not be done. They said it would mess up our dining. I did read here that it was done but I had no luck. We will have 4 of these in May and I'm bringing the ones from Sept with me to see if they can be removed as well as the new ones. I don't like the fact that the Sept. 1 day passes appear to be an old room key that is outdated.

Wish me luck!!

Did you use one for each day? I wonder if you can upgrade them to Park hopper(paying extra for PH option)??

Since your BIL is the service member he can get his salute ticket for free and then pay for the companion tickets for the others.

You can upgrade each but cannot combine them. Since each one costs about 80 or so, I would upgrade one and keep the rest. The one day wouldn't be a park hopper either.

Totally get that, wasn't trying to combine them onto one to upgrade. We'd have two people going in the fall (if we wait). I was just wondering if I could use hers and my SO could use the other one they have to buy to get free dining when the service member will be using his free ticket.

To the poster who mentioned about the free and companion tickets, thanks for trying to help me but my issue was that even with them using those military tickets they STILL have to purchase 1 day MYW tickets in order to take advantage of free dining which is a waste for them as they may never go back.

I really hope this is true. I can totally understand Disney not allowing ticket swapping once one has been used but I can't believe they'd make you buy a ticket that you can't use and not be able to transfer it. I would think that in this case or in the case of AP's they should just ask for verification of already purchased tickets for each person taking advantage of their promotion. I mean especially with FD. Except for at hotels you can't even get in the parks TO EAT without a ticket..hahaha..but they don't ask me.
