Okay, I know that Disney's policy is that if a child turns from 9-10 during a trip he can keep the child ticket-- but what about this: We're thinking of going for President's Week next year and our son turns 3 on the Thursday of that week (we'll stay until Saturday or Sunday.)

Sooooo... I get him a 3-day hopper? What? Or is the policy that whatever age they start their trip at, that stands?

Oh dear. I beg you to do a search on this topic (you'll find many past threads) or call Disney directly for the most accurate and up-to-date information. Otherwise, please be ready for a whole truckload of responses, not all of which will be....um....kind. :scared:

I'm too scared to even TRY to answer this one. ;)

When you booked the room (assuming you are staying on site) they ask for they age of any children. Since your child will be 2 at the beginning of the trip he will be 2 for the entire trip in the eyes of Disney.

I think shafke is correct that if he's 2 when you check in, it will be fine. I'd call and doublecheck just because I worry, but I bet it's fine. You're not lying, it's just a quirk of Disney booking, like getting a room at value-season prices if your checkin day is in value season and the rest of your vacation is in a higher-priced season. It's probably easier on them than working with each family to determine birth date and then tickets for partial stays for the child but tickets for the full stay for everyone else......

It is the same way for DCL..We went in October and my BF little girl was turning 3 on the ship, but since she was 2 when she boarded she only had to pay the infant fare!!! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

We had asked WDW about this with my Cousins little girl and they said if she was 2 when you arrive then she is free!!

You planned well! Take advantage of this...His last free trip! :thumbsup2

Have fun! :sunny:

with my nephew. He was 2 when we got there and I asked at the hotel (POR) just to be sure he wouldn't need a ticket. One of the manager's there said "nope...not until your next trip." We even celebrated his 3rd birthday at one of the character breakfasts (Crystal Palace) without a ticket of any kind and got him a birthday pin at City Hall...

Have a great trip and consider this Disney's gift to you and yours!

My kids turn 10 during our upcoming trip and I asked the CM when I booked the same thing. She said that their age for booking and ticketing purposes is the age at the beginning of the reservation.

Thank you for your responses. I will check with Disney directly but am glad to hear of the experiences everyone else has had.

We went to Disney whe dd was in the same predictiment and the response we were given here and from Disney was; she is considered to be the age when you started your visit, there for not needing a ticket. Hope that helps.

Incidentally, the airlines are not so generous. If your child falls between airfare categories during a trip - infant to child, for example - they may have to buy one way airfare. The airlines can, and do, ask for proof of age!

Good to know! He's already full fare anyway, so no worries this trip.

What a pleasure to open this again and see 8 terrific responses! :) (Mine doesn't count since it wasn't really a response. :duck: )

I would still call, since policy does change, but it has always been my understanding the child's age at check-in is the age that counts. Sounds like everyone so far has the same information.

I won't tell you what I've been told about refillable mugs, though............... ;)
