I would like to know how often they change the shows that are presented aboard the ships (Hercules, disney dreams etc.)

We are planninf on taking a land/sea cruise in oct.2006 and were wondering if the shows would be the same as whwn we went in dec 2004

thanks...you guys are great!

I asked this question a while ago and the reply was that they do not change them often and I think it was the Golden Mickey show that was the newest one and I think it started about a year ago? Maybe some others can provide more information.

A brief history of the shows:

Original Shows:
Hercules: The Muse-ical
Disney Dreams
Voyage of the Ghost Ship

First Changes:
Voyage of the Ghost Ship made way to Voyage of the Ghost Ship (more kid friendly rework)
Voyage of the Ghost Ship sailed away and Who Wants to Be A Mousketeer arrived.

For the 7-night sailings, three new shows were introduced:
Welcome Aboard Variety Show
Farewell Variety Show
Cest Magical (misspelled)

Changes to the three new shows:
Welcome Aboard Variety Show * - no changes
Farewell Variety Show * - changed to the Castle stage and reworked
Cest Magical (misspelled) reworked to become Morty the Magician

* The entertainers change, but the beginning and ending with the characters and Main Stage entertainers are the same. The Farewell Variety Show had the beginning and ending reworked, and the reworked version is better.

Most recent changes:
Who Wants to Be A Mousketeer (Wonder) and Morty, the Magician (Magic) dropped and replaced with Golden Dreams

Of the three main shows, two remain and the third show been replaced twice.

Of the three new shows for the 7-night cruise, two remain and the third show replaced once.

They don't change often - it is likely that 2006 may have the same offerings.

Hercules, the Muse-ical at least seems fresh year after year with updated jokes.
Disney Dreams has stood the time test - always been the same - (unless they made changes in the very first four months or so)
Golden Dreams - the newest, but looks like a keeper.

While I enjoyed both Voyage of the Ghost Ship and Morty the Magician, they ultimately failed (most likely) due to non-Disney themes and less kid appeal. I wish they could create a show that was more adult-orientated, but at the same time, keep the kids entertained.

Just read this from this site on the main page and news:

NEW SHOW ON THE MAGIC

An exclusive show is debuting on the Disney Magic. Scheduled for the first night, it follows the tale of a young cruise guest who dreams of becoming the ship's captain. Mickey, Minne and a host of Disney characters guide him on his journey of discovery.

Intertwined in this musical presentation are helpful hints and an overview of the events and activities that guests can enjoy during their voyage. The ship's officers will be introduced as part of this program.

Just as a side note, what was stated as "Golden Dreams" by KMovies, is actually "Golden Mickeys."

Then there always has been the Island Magic show in the Buena Vista theater. It's about 30 minutes long and shows Minnie and the gang getting Castaway Cay ready for us. Captain Mickey keeps checking in on the crew. But there's danger afoot as Captain Hook is on the island looking for treasure. It's a fun childrens show (I'm mid 40's and really enjoy it)
