My 180+10 window is coming soon and I have a problem. I have a reservation for 7 people (3 rooms). I am the official "figure it out and make the reservations" person. There is a possibility that 1 more person may join the group at some point. Can you make reservations for more than your number (8 and not 7)? Can I add later without a problem? Do I force a decision before my official date to make ADR's? What are my options? Help!

I am that guy always for my trips, too! Yes, you can make dining ressies for any amount of people you want. They are not dependent on your resort reservations. I would reserve eight to be safe. You can always go back and edit that later. I do think it would be harder to add on then take off, though, so would err on the higher number. Be aware that for some reservations you might have to make two fours instead of eight if there is limited availability. Where they don't guarantee that you will sit together, I always find them most obliging and we have rarely been split up.

Thanks. That is the news I was wanting to hear as it makes my life a little easier! Thanks, again. Melissa

Know you already made your decision, but I totally agree. It likely wouldn't have been a big deal if you made it for seven but showed up with eight, but better to be safe than sorry.

Always make the reservations for the maximum number of people who might be there. Trying to add someone or having to make new reservations later can be very difficult and often impossible for larger groups or for extremely popular restaurants. On the other hand, it is much easier to show up at the restaurant with fewer than on the reservation. Just tell the CMs at the podium that there are 7 and as long as at least one person shows up for the reservation you will not be charged the no show fee for the absent person.
