Question about the MYW package

Planning on calling soon and changing our room-only ressie to a basic package one (to get the DDP)... but have a question about the park tickets.

I know some people here buy just a 1-day park ticket to get the DDP.. but what would the advantage to that be?

I'm planning on getting the 4 of us probably the 10-day tickets... so should I just buy the full tickets through Disney, or is there an advantage to just buying a 1-day one through them and the other 9 days through somewhere else? (in other words, why do people only buy 1 day?)

Thanks!

We already bought our park tickets last year so that's why we just got a 1 days base ticket to get the DDP. I think I read a post that said that savings through other vendors is slight so you might as well get them through Disney. I'm not 100% about that though.

The reason some people will only buy 1 day passes with the package:

leftover "no expiration" tickets
AP holders
planning to not visit parks much --maybe just water parks or relaxing at the resort--of course this only works if planning to dine outside of the parks

One year I had an AP, but to get the DDP I had to get the one-day ticket. A couple of years later (last Oct in fact), I was able to upgrade the one-day ticket to a new AP, saving about $70.
