Ok so we go to DL several times a year but we have never been in the month of April so I have a couple questions for those of you who have been and may know the answers.

1. Are first day is Monday April 21st and we wanted to know if anyone knew what kind of crowds we could expect?

We love DL but since we live in Cali and have the opportunity to go often we always avoid the busy times of the year like July and Christmas vacation. April is unknown to us and for the most part we would not go in April because usually Spring Break falls around this time of year but with Easter being when it was we kind of figured that maybe we would be safe at the end of April like we are planning. Are we safe in assuming this or are we off base?

2. Does anyone know when TSM is scheduled to open? I was hoping we would get a chance at a sneek peek while down there???

I know we were at DL when they were having the sneak peeks or test runs (whatever you may call them) of MI and we loved getting to be amoung the first to try it out before it became official as in open.

Anyhow any thoughts or great advise is welcome and I really look forward to reading all the replies.

Thanks in advance

We are planning on going around that time, too. I think the crowds should be pretty manageable because most kids are still in school, and all spring breaks are over by then.

I can't really answer your other questions, I'm sorry.

Might be a stupid question, is this the new Toy Story attraction? Is it supposed to open soon? I thought it was late this year...it would be so great if it was opening before we go in May, although I would need to tweak our itinerary!! :cool1:

We will be arriving on the 20th so I am very interested in the responses! Does anyone know which would be better for an anniversary dinner Napa Rose or the steakhouse 55 in DL hotel?

i would not go down there thinking its not going to be packed because for one spring break is still going on for some states and colleges, and the food and wine festival is going on during that time....if the crowds arent bad then great but it will be worse if you dont expect them and they are there kwim?

We'll be there too on the 22nd for four nights. We're from New Jersey but not all towns have their Spring Break at this time. And from what I know, a lot of people do to WDW instead of DLR. We chose to go to Cali. figuring it would be less crowded. So I hope we made the right choice.

As for the crowds, Anything is possible the week of April 21st. The day before is the Long Beach Grand Prix which brings in alot of european and overseas fans. Some might fly home the day after the race from their vacation. Some might will be staying around the area for a few days to visit Southern California and possibly go to Disneyland.

As for my fiancee and I, We will be in Pasadena which is my homewtown that I grew up in the week of the race and will be flying out the same night of the race on the 20th. We will be at Disneyland on the 13th which is the day after we fly in from Boston. We also will be visiting Sea World on the 16th. The 19th and 20th, We will be at Long Beach for 2 days of racing.

All I know is that April is a busy month for the Southern California area with everything going on in the month.

Oh no the way I see it is there are no stupid questions when it comes to Disney!!:goodvibes
Anyhow the answer to your question is yes I was talking about Toy Story Mania. Hope this helps.
I can't wait to try it out I have been hearing great htings about it so the hype is building for me:yay:

Bump! :goodvibes Still curious if anyone knows the date TSM is supposed to open? :surfweb:

Thank you thank you! :thumbsup2

Not this trip then, but by Sister Trip in Sept and Holiday Trip in November we should be good to go!

We are from the East coast -first time using dvc points at GCH. We chose to go to the West coast because of the crowds at WDW during April spring break. So I guess we will see how crowded the 20-25 will be. How about weather- Is it true it may not be warm in Ca the end of April??? Please say it will be nice. Has anyone been at that time of year?:)

I'm also going on the 22nd, but only for 3 nights. I am a teacher in NYC and that week is our Spring Break, but like pippi said, many people from here go to WDW. I tell people I'm going to DisneyLAND and they get confused and want to know WHY I'd go ALL THE WAY to California when I could go to WDW. (The answer: It's a mother-daughter trip and Mom lives in Washington State AND I've been to WDW 4 times in the last 3 years and I want to go to DLR for a change!)

I'm a little bummed because the ONLY night for fireworks/Fantasmic/Electrical parade is the night I fly out, so we are missing them! :sad1: My hope is that means they are not expecting huge crowds. :confused3

I'm getting very stressed about being there the week of the 21st. We did not know about the Cheerleaders or the race (although my hubby is now going to it because we'll be there). I'm hoping that the week will be less crowded than the weekend, we did everything we could to try and avoid spring breaks and now there is all of this going on. Thankfully we have 6 day pass and we a night owls so I'm hoping to stay until the park closes and hopefully it will be less crowded later in the evening. I should have booked the first two weeks in may I guess :(

I would not stress so much about this. We have been in late april before (actually with a later easter) and the crowds were fine - better than in June , and of course, not so hot.

Follow the usual advice for planning, and you will be fine. Also bear in mind that the park is closing earlier because they expect fewer crowds. tripsmarter.com lists no colleges or universities on break during that period, although of course there are still school districts. But the bulk will be over.:)

although anything can happen here, I honestly dont think your going to have to worry about the weather...now if it was march i would say you might have issues but not at the end of april:goodvibes

it will be less crowded than on the week for sure but its good that you are doing 6 days...you will be fine:goodvibes

Just looked at acuweather for the 15 day forcast. Yesterday the 19th said 80 degrees today it is 72. Sunday the 20th is 75 degrees. Both days say sunshine. It will change more I am sure but if you go to acuweather.com you can look at the forcast.
