Why do they call it a monorail? It is not on a rail. It is on concrete. I do not understand. Anyone????
(DS Vincent is plaguing me with this question. I told him the good DISers might have an answer).

I suppose it is a matter of opinion but I think the concrete beam with steel reinforcing bars inside and on which the train runs qualifies as being a rail.

A rail, such a horizontal fence member, can be made out of wood, or as used for a traditional railroad, can be made out of metal, or as used for drawers in furniture or to hold CD-ROM and hard drives in computers, can be made out of plastic. In the case of the Disney monorail, the rail is made out of concrete.
