We have reservations at Ohana for one of our meals. Is the Lapu Lapu available to order as a drink (to pay oop, of course) with dinner?

Thanks!

Thanks--that is the sole reason for our ressie at Ohana for dinner. Sounds like I made a good decision. We're going to Universal that day, so a Lapu Lapu should bring us right back into the Disney spirit :)

Yep it is! You can order it at the bar or at your table ...

and you can get it to go!! I don't know about taking it on the monorail, but it would be great to sit on the beach with one and take in the fireworks (we were staying at Poly, so we just took them back to our room).

Last time we were at the 'Ohana, the Lapu Lapu wasn't on the menu, but we were able to order a few anyway. (Just a heads up so you don't get discouraged if you don't see it on the menu.)

Okay...I'll ask...

What is Lapu Lapu?

We're trying Ohana's for the first time in June...(tried our last trip, but couldn't get reservations-:confused3)....

I'm intrigued? What exactly is a Lapu Lapu? And where else can you get them from? I love discovering new drinks! lol

Looks nice served in a hollowed out pineapple but doesn't hold much and tasted OK. I preferred the frozen tropical drinks served at the bar outside of Ohana. Just ask the bartender to make them extra strong using 151 rum or something! I'd pick up a few and take them back to our room while DS was sleeping!

Sounds pretty good, though. I guess while we're there, I will 'experiment' it.:yay:

IS a Lapu Lapu! Don't mind how it's a little blurry, apparently about half way through your second you lose all ability as a photographer! I got one at the bar before our meal and they brought me another during dinner. YUM is all I can say (b/c I don't remember much more!) :lmao: J/K

It's like a tropical rum punch. The primary flavor in the recipes I have seen is orange juice, but it tastes more pineapple-y to me (must be psychological).

If you're not a strong spirit drinker beware - I love a white rum or wine or pimms and the odd cocktail but this seriously nearly killed me!!! Couldn't even drink more than half - that's never happened before or since trust me.

It is yummy.............. esp. with the sticky chicken wings - OMG - I miss Kona Cafe so much!!!! LOL

But, I agree.................. by the time I was done with it........... DH was laughing at me........... while almost having to carry me back to our room!!!! It is STRONG, esp. if you aren't a drinker!

You can get it at Kona or O'hana - not sure where else at the Poly (I don't think Capt. Cooks has it, not sure about the pool) - but, I'm pretty sure no where else other than the Poly has them.

I drank 2 of them!! Make me look like a lush, why don't you!

I loveee lapu lapus, they are really good! And strong! Left me feeling a little dizzy, but it wore off fast enough

We ordered two to take back to our room, which was far away from the bar. My husbands arms were pretty tired by the time we got to the room. Who would have thought they would be that heavy. HA! I slept very well that night.

There is another drink we enjoy at the Poly called the "Backscratcher." It is served with a backscratcher. We are getting a small collection of these little gems. During a trip to PA we stopped in a place that had a jar of backscratchers. My DS said, "I wonder how many they had to drink to get all of those?" I think we will have to ask them not to serve it with the "evidence" so our children don't think we are drinking too much.:lmao:

Cheers!

The Lapu Lapu is too strong for me (and I even asked for it light on the alcohol). How much are they now? I could've sworn I paid $20ish for one in 2006 but I found it on an '03 menu for $9.99 and I KNOW it wasn't that cheap.
