Question about the Golf Cards At Fort Wilderness

My family and I will be staying at the Fort Wilderness Cabins for our anual trip to Walt Disney World January 17th, 2008 for 4 nights. My family consists of Me, DW, DS11, DS9, DD 2 1/2, DS 8months.

I have stayed there before with my 2 older DSs, and we rented the Golf Cart and loved it.

DW is having second thoughts about Renting the Golf Cart because of our little one, shes worried about the speed of the cart. Does anone know how fast the cart goes, I dont think its that fast and I dont think it will be much of a problem, but I figured if I found out the speed, I can tell DW and ease her mind.

The speed limit in FW is 20mph, I don't think the Disney carts go that fast, especially when full.

not very fast, i saw an old lady in her walker overtake one by the trading post. I'll ask my guy, but I think it's 19.7mph.

It depends on how far you press the pedal!

Seriously, you don't have to go top speed with the baby on board. Trust me, DW will let you know when you are going fast enough.

As someone already stated they have a max of 12 to 15 mph. depending on the load and with the pedal to the floor.

I know that a lot of folks like the GCs for shorter stays and we have rented one years ago for a few days and it was nice for tooling around, but to be honest the transportation is good enough that we don't consider it cost effective. For a 30+ day stay we just can't justify it when that alone pays for all the meals we eat out during that same time frame. Now if you have the capability to bring your own that is a whole other story. Now during the holidays when we want to tool the loops and look at the decorations, we just use the Van for that hour or so.

I might be wrong, but I don't think I've ever waited longer than 15 min for a bus inside FW and the average is in the 5 to 7 min time frame.

Isn't that a big no-no? And why IS that such a no-no, I mean...whats the big deal about driving your vehicle around to sight see, is it just because they are afraid of losing money on GC rentals? Are they THAT frugal? Just curious.

I think you can write in your own title at anytime. I don't remember when I wrote in mine but it was very early on when I signed up.The color is a different story though.

P.S. They don't go that fast, I wouldn't worry about that at all. And you can drive as slow as you want!

Last trip we had the fiver,Truck and Golf Cart without a problem
