Okay, I have my Prescription 5% coupon and my Red Card in hand. My plan is to buy 80 fifty dollar Disney Gift Cards. Is there anything I should know before going through check-out?

Not sure if you have the debit card or credit card but if it's the debit card and depending on your limit set by Target, you may or may not be able to purchase that many in one transaction. My advice would be to ask for a manager as soon as you get to the store and let them know what you are doing and ask if he/she would prefer you ring them at the service desk vs. the regular check out. By doing this, if all 80 does not go thru in one transaction, you can ask them to try ringing 1/2 of them and see if the manager will allow you to pay the other 1/2 with another form of payment and still give you the extra discount...be aware though that is solely up to the manager's discretion. Good Luck and please report back on how you make out.

Your REDCard may have a limit on it as to how much you can spend in a day (debit card) or it might have a low spending limit if it is a credit/charge card. You can check your spending limit online in Manage My REDCard if it is a credit/charge card. If it is a debit card, the amount you can spend in a single day will be a big secret.

Do not ask the cashier if the discounts will work on your purchase. Just hand the pharma5 card first to take off 5% and the run your REDCard through to pay the balance. It will take the next 5% off automatically. Sometimes it helps to have other items in addition to the Disney GCs. The cashier may not be willing to even scan the pharma5 card if he/she believes that it won't apply to the gift cards.

As always, excellent advice! ^^^^

I typically try not to do more than $1500 in Disney gift cards at one time and I also get other items as well. I've never had a problem and I also don't comment or say anything. I've easily spent almost $2000 on my Target Debit card but obviously had that in my checking and I think it's helped that I've gradually built up this limit and since day one, never had an issue.

A friend of mine tried to get $1500 with her Target Debit card and she also had the funds available, however it was declined and she ended up going to c/s and they did them in batches but it drew a lot of attention and questions but they did help her.

How do you get a 5% pharmacy coupon?

Sign up for a free pharmacy rewards card at Target, show the rewards card each time you get a script filled and once you've filled 5 prescriptions, they will send you a voucher which gives you an extra 5% off shopping day which you can they use in conjunction with your red card.

I too have built my "limit" with them and still had problems. While one week I was able to purchase $1900 worth of GC's in one transaction, 3 weeks later I couldn't. Like Marionnette said, the whole Target limit is one big secret. This is the prime reason I got fed up and cancelled my debit card and went with the credit card instead - no more guessing at what my limit is :)

Yikes!! Have you had any issues with the Credit version now? I could have sworn I had read others still had issues with the Credit version, even if they were well within their limit as it was flagged like a fraud type concern. Thanks for the head's up!

I just switched to the credit card about a month ago and haven't purchased a large amount of GC's yet but plan to do so in March as I have my trip for next August already booked and plan to buy the cards then to pay it off. I hadn't heard of anyone having problems with their credit card but since you mentioned it, I think I'll handle it like I've handled my other large purchases on other credit cards in the past. I'll call the company ahead of time to tell them that I am planning to make a large purchase so they know it's legit :)

For the credit card, would it be possible to "pay ahead" towards your account, thus raising your limit? Say, if you had a $1000 limit with zero balance, if you sent them $1000 before you went to the store to make your purchase, would you be able to spend $2000?
