Question about SW airlines

So - ticket prices yesterday were "tolerable" for a trip we have to take, and the dates are not really flexible (event is a destination wedding). So - while "perhaps" the prices on our return flight will drop.

I did not book us for Early bird checkin on our return - because I have a question: If I bought the early bird check-in - what happens if the flight goes down in price? If we rebook at a lower price - do we loose the early bird check-ins that we already purchased? We would not be changing flights - it would not be practical to change flight times/days/

The early bird option you buy will transfer. On our last cruise we bought it for the return trip and then a week before the trip we decided we wanted an earlier flight and changed it, and we didn't have to repurchase it.

You can buy the early bird at any time. I would wait until I was sure of the flight to purchase the EB.

You can add the early bird check in at any time, too.

I added it the day before my return flight (a few hours before I'd have to do online check-in when I realized I wouldn't have internet access). I was still in the A's (though the last ones).
