Question about "subscribing" to someone's review?

Forgive a newbie.....
I have seen on several threads, that somebody will say "I'm subscribing to read your review".??

What exactly does this mean, and is there an "information" thread on how to navigate this website? I'm used to Trip Advisor.

The reason you subscribe to a thread is so you can get email updates every time somebody posts a reply. I like to subscribe to a thread when the original post is about something I am interested in. For instance, somebody asks a question about Pop Century. We are staying at Pop Century for the first time this coming August and I know nothing about the resort. So, if I'd like to keep up with the replies to that particular thread, I subscribe to it so I can get the email updates.

Oh and when you look at a thread, there will be a "thread tools" link at the top of it. Click on that and it shows a menu, the last item will be "subscribe to this thread." Then you can either choose to be emailed updates or just have them appear in your User CP [control panel], which is what I do. (The User CP link is in the top left of any DIS page, above the ads.)

Unlike on some other message boards, you don't actually need to reply to a thread to subscribe to it, and you are not automatically subscribed when you reply. But when you reply, you can choose (in the menus below the reply box) to subscribe at the same time, instead of using the menu at the top like I described.

I've subscribed to two threads, but both times chose the 'no email' option, and now I can't figure out how to find my subscriptions! I can find my own posts just fine by going to my name in the top right of the screen, but I just cannot figure out how to find the list of threads I've subscribed to.....help?!

It's easy to fix. Look at the top of the page. About two inches down on the left hand side, you'll see USER CP. Click on that. On the next page, you'll see your private messages, your subscribed threads and other topics. Hope this helps. If you have more questions, just post.
