In my son's room we have a slider that leads out to a small balcony. The door is hardly ever used and it has plastic vertical blinds on it. Being that we live downton it's still very light in there with the blinds drawn. I am thinking about putting up drapes to help keep the room darker for him at night and for daytime naps.

I have two questions:
1. Would this work???
2. What size is the standard slider? 8' long and how tall? I was going to go look tonight after work and not go home first so I can't measure!!

We are moving a few months after he is born but at that point we will still have windows in his room and I was thinking worse case I could shorten the drapes and construct them to fit his bedroom windows regardless. Or I will get a color that will coordinate with another room if necessary. His room is light blue, green and cream.
