Question about split stays WDW/Universal

Hi all-
First of all I haven't been on the boards in a while and I hope first and foremost you are all safe.
Like many people, we have rescheduled what was supposed to be a land and sea trip in summer 2020 to later summer/early fall this year, however we are most likely forgoing the cruise (even though we all hope to be or will be vaccinated by the time we go, we understand that the situation is ever evolving and changing and would rather just plan now). Instead of the cruise, we are looking into some time at Universal and possibly seeing friends who live on the Atlantic coast prior to heading to WDW. The question is we can book our full airfare fully via Disney and just take a uber or car service or mears to UOR/wherever we end up at the start correct? We just want to make sure as we have never done a split stay before, and we want to make sure nothing gets chaotic in the process.

100% correct. Just make sure you have your Magical Express booked from Disney to the airport, (assuming you are going in that order for your return home). Or if you want to not take Magical Express you can take an UBER or car service from Disney to the airport that is also fine. You are not locked in to Magical Express at all.

Awesome thank you! We have never stayed at Universal, we usually Uber or Mears to UOR/SeaWorld, so we were just a little confused. And we intend to end with Disney so we would be taking ME to MCO to return home.
