Question about split stay & FD-help pls! Gotta convince dh :)

If we were to do a split stay, I'm assuming that our days at Pop would be with QS & those days at WL would be DDP. Right? With FD, does that change anything with booking? Still be one deposit? And how much would it be to then upgrade to DDP for 2 adults one junior for those days at Pop? Any help appreciated. My dh really doesn't like this idea (he'd rather just do the whole trip at a mod) so I need some selling points

I'm afraid you are not going to like this answer. A split stay counts as two completely separate reservations, so you'd not only have to pay two $200.00 deposits, you would also have to buy two sets of two day park tickets for everyone in the room. split stays are not usually a good deal during free dining because of having to repurchase park tickets for each stay. Now you could purchase length of stay tickets for your first ressie and use them for your whole trip and then purchase just two day tickets for the second ressie and save them for another trip. As long as you don't put them into a turnstyle they would be good forever. However, each adult two day ticket is about $160.00, so having to buy them for every person on the ressie each stay would sortof eat up most savings you'd be getting for the free dining. You'd be looking at an extra $480.00 in tickets that you wouldn't have to spend if you stayed in one resort (two adults and one junior==3x$160.00=$480.00).

It'd be about $10.00/day/person to upgrade from the counter service plan to the basic DDP for those days at Pop..

It's $10 for adults and $2 for children 3-9 to upgrade from free QS to DDP at the value.

If you really care about doing the WL, why not just do it as a special thing on your last night? The DDP credits from your Pop package would be good until midnight that night. You could spend the day at MK, then take the convenient boat ride to WL where you can have a nice dinner (using DDP credits if you saved some) and then head straight to your room in the same building, enjoy the pool and hot tub with a magnificent view of that beautiful lodge at night!

Also, that means your WL night doesn't have to be at rack rate - you could get a room-only discount on that as they become available. Though if you read threads about how to get a pin, there are some pins out there that would give you 40% off at deluxe resorts. Use that 40% that you saved on the resort to cover any meals on the day that you wake up at WL.
