Question about someone else using your magic band for fastpass plus?

So, my husband and my daughter are dying to check out HP at UO and have decided to spend one day there instead of a second day at MK. Can we book fp+ on their magic bands & use them for someone else at MK? Someone (in my own family) said it was dishonest, but we paid for the day at WDW that they won't be using so I don't see it that way. Will it work? Is it wrong?

Thanks!

Don't know if it would work. Might burn one of your days or not work if you don't scan it at the turnstiles.

Ethical? One thing I liked about the paper ones was gifting and receiving them at the end of the day. All four of us would get them then just the kids would go twice. Twice we left early and pixie dusted two families. Once we got dusted. This may be something entirely different since you are not intending to even go.

It is your other family members. Make sure and tell us what happens.

Yes you can - my niece wasn't feeling well one morning and my sil stayed back at the hotel with her. We first tried to re-schedule their FP+ for the evening in hopes she would be feeling better but didn't really have any good choices so they just gave their MB's to my dd's and they had no issues using their own FP+ as well as my niece and sil's FP+.

We know that it works.
This has been tried and reported dozens of times on these boards.

So very many posts with questions like:
!. "If I take my DH's MB to Epcot and he is back at the resort watching the game on TV, can I use his FP+?"
2. "Does his ticket have to be scanned in at the gate to work?"
-------------
The answers are:
1. Yes
2. No

It works. Did it 2 weeks ago. Sister and nephew got sick, couldn't go on our last minute trip, my SIL and I callously brought their magic bands and rode everything twice. (It was a non-refundable room. I will not be judged!!!)

I would have judged you if you hadn't used their bands. In fact I will judge you if you don't use the bands for FPs again and again until your sister uses them on her next trip.

It works. I have been doing this since magic bands came to Disney in 2013, I think. Worked when magic bands were first rolled out, worked last time we used them in March and has worked countless trips in between.

Thanks everyone. I wasn't feeling too bad about it because like I said there tickets were paid for and were not going to be used, but I appreciate the feedback (and validation)! So excited that it will work!

1. It will.
2. It won't.
3. It will.
4. Doesn't need to be.

You really can use a fast pass without using a ticket? My dad is booked on our reservation for August, but there's a good chance he either won't go or won't go into the parks with us. If he chooses to skip the parks, I'd like to save his 8 day parkhopper for us for a future trip. But if we could still use his fast passes without having to use up his ticket, that would be awesome!

Do you know if the fast passes will still work from his magic band if we've removed his ticket from the magic band and converted it to an old school plastic card ticket?

Yes, you will be able to use your Dad's 8 day ph for fastpasses without using up his ticket. We have been using our son-in-law's ticket for the last two trips and will be using it for our next trip, and the next one, etc, until he uses it. He has both a MagicBand and an old MNSSHP plastic ticket, and both of them work for the fps. It is a lot easier to use his plastic card then to carry around his MB. If you go to guest relations they will put his ticket on a plastic card for you.

If you have the ticket, it will work. I'm sure plenty of people here will give you a hard time about it, but you did pay for the ticket and it will go unused, so i don't see how it's dishonest.

By ticket do you mean magic band?

By have a ticket, I meant that some ticket for the day was purchased and linked to the magic band. It sounded like OP already has multi-day tickets, but that some people won't be using one of their days (ever). In this case, I see no ethical reason not to go ahead and book FP+ for that day, take the magic bands of the non-attending guests and use those FP+.

This scenario is different from others brought up where a ticket is linked to magic bands of a person not even on this trip--still works, but is a different ethical discussion.

The ticket does not have to be "removed from the MagicBand.
(There are no tickets "on" ANY MagicBand, anyway.)
Nothing is ever "put onto" or "taken off of" any MagicBand.**

Regardless, if he does not go to any of the parks, his ticket will remain new and unused.

If you want the ticket put onto a flat plastic ticket, that can be done at any ticket booth or Guest Relations.
However, that ticket ("his" ticket) will remain usable on both that flat ticket -AND- his MagicBand.

If that ticket is never used to enter a park, it can be saved and used by anyone in the future.
And... even if that ticket is never used to enter a park, any FP+ reservations made
with it can be accessed by anyone holding that ticket or his MB.
--------------------------------------

** Just to keep things as clear as possible-

There is no reservation info, or ticket info, or credit card info,
or FP+ info "put onto" a MagicBand.

A MagicBand just contains (and weakly "transmits") a unique serial number that is used to access the information that is stored in your MyDisneyExperience computer file.

The MagicBand works like the combination to a locked safe, or a key to a locked door.

The MB, itself, is not the file of info or the container of the info.
The MB just unlocks the file of info, allowing it to be accessed from your MDE account when needed.
