Question about selling a DVC contact

I am familiar with the big time share brokers that sell DVC. But I also know they have at least a 10% commission and up to a 12% commission. I have a small contract that I need to sell. Don’t be too sad for me I am not selling all my points. I just need the money to pay for something else right now. Things happen. I don’t want to lose money on it, and with the commission I would have to sell it for a lot in order to get want out of it. Probably more than what someone would want to pay. I know people pay a bit of a premium for smaller contracts because they are getting their foot in the door with DVC, but with the commission it will be so much. Does anyone know of a site that you can sell your timeshare yourself -- or maybe a broker who charges a lower fee? I think I want to stay away from Ebay. If there is no place, then I will go the broker route and just pay the commission. Thanks

I don't know of any sites, but why not try it with a broker anyway. Price it for what you know you want to get out of it (taking into consideration the 10% commission) and see what happens.

It doesn't cost to do this and if you get an offer for less, just say no. I sold a small contract and had to list it with a delayed closing. I was going to wait to do it until after the trip but when I called TSS, they told me to list it anyway (this was April and we were traveling in August).

I figured it didn't hurt and we ended up getting an offer in like 24 hours!

You just never know what will happen. The worst case scenerio is that it sits there, gets no offers, and you pull it from sale.

Good luck!

List it on the Timeshare Users Group, bidshares and redweeks.com. Most of the brokers will allow a non exclusive listing where if you find the buyer you owe no commissions. For a small contract it doesn't make much sense to pay a commission unless you need to sell it fast.

Thanks Dean. I have heard people talk about the TUG board on this board before, but I have not heard of the other boards before. I am a Disney fan and not well versed in timeshare boards. That is why I post and read on the Disboard. I will check out the ones you suggested.
