Question about Searching for ADR's

Hello, newbie--I've been reading threads but didn't see an answer to this question. My 180+ date opens tomorrow. I was practicing so I could see how the system works and also get my credit card on file. Here's my question:

If you do a search for "dinner" rather than a specific time and there are available times, my MDE shows a sentence saying there's times between 7:00 and 9:00pm (or something like that). Then it puts a suggested time in the clickable button. Is there an easy way to view those available dinner options? I don't see any way to view them. Do I have to go back and put in specific times? Seems like I should be able to look at all available dinner times? Help!

My second question is this: If we have a party of 5, I've seen people suggest we book for a party of 6, since most tables hold even numbers and they've had more luck finding availability with even numbers. If we do this will it automatically make our reservation require the mandatory tip? It's not a big deal, but I'm just curious.

If you showed up with five I would think they couldn't enforce the mandatory tip. Search for five first anyway. I've travelled with odd-numbered parties and have usually not had a problem getting ADRs.

If, when selecting a generic meal time, the system doesn't give you a time you like, then search for a specific time around when you'd like to eat. However, if you are only getting one time to appear when selecting dinner, and it's a really oddball time, really late or really early, then that's probably the only time that's available.

For the party size, if you make it for 6, you can always call later and have them adjust it down. I had no problems doing this last year when I made ADR's for 6 and we ended up being a party of 4. Also, they will only charge you for whoever shows up.

Thanks for the info. I must have picked a date and several places where there was only one time available! I'll keep trying and see what comes up. I'm hoping for just a few reservations but the otherwise quiet Late Oct/Early Nov has gotten crazy busy with the FD! I don't have FD, but just want a few reservations during our trip.

I'll search on party of 5 first and 6 second! Thanks for the help!
