Question about Saratoga Springs

My DH, DD5 and I will be at WDW 02-08 through 02-12 for DH's meeting. The meeting will be at the DtD Hilton Hotel. We are not staying at the Hilton (why would we spend over $300 a night to stay offsite). At this moment, we are planning on staying at POP. However, we are flying and really don't want to spend ~$150 on a rental car just for him to drive to meeting. He was originally planning on taking a bus from POP to DTD and walking the hotel and then taking a bus back to either park or hotel when meeting is done every day.

Tonight, I was thinking it might be better off just to stay at Saratoga Springs. The only drawback is he gets reimbursed for his stay but has a have a receipt to be reimbursed, which means we would not get any reimbursement for our lodging. Is Saratoga Springs within walking distance to DTD (how long) and is that in turn within walking distance of the DTD Hilton Hotel?

Any suggestions? DD and I will be going to parks on all days, just want to make it easier on DH without breaking budget.

Stay at SSR using the DVC cash discount. That way you will have a receipt. Depending were you stay at SSR will determine the walking time to DTD. You can always take the bus. Time to Hilton might be 30 minutes. What about a cab?

The walk isn't bad if you get a room in Congress Park or from 6100 up in the Paddock.

He can absolutely walk. Great exercise!

He can walk, take the bus or take the boat. The bus runs fairly frequently & the boat is about every 20-30 minutes. If his meeting strarts early he may have to walk. It is a very nice walk but in a round about way. Your idea is a good one as it is always sbetter to stay in the park in a vacation villa.

It's under 1/2 mile to the closer buildings of SSR. Sidewalks and stoplights the whole way. Note that if you aren't staying in Congress Park, it's faster to walk out Broadway to N Buena Vista rather than going through Congress Park and the DTD pathway.

PS - Interesting to note the attitude this board has towards walking vs that of another DIS boards.

WE stayed at the DTD Hilton five days before Christmas - 60 bucks per night priceline. And you get EMH. We walked across the street to SSR to eat breakfast one day.


The rooms are very nice with very ggod beds/linens - the revamped contemporary resort style. They have room service and three restaurants including a food court. Big bathrooms and a full-size safe in the room. We got daily housekeeping, newspaper, and they sent us free tuxedo strawberries and champagne for our anniversary. It's literally across the street from the marketplace - a much quicker walk than from SSR.

Walking certainly beats all other forms of transportation - WHEN the weather is nice! It's free and offers good exercise. But personally I hate the cold.. and cold for me is like 55 or below haha
