I thought I understood DVC purchases, but I came across one on Twitter that confuses me:

New Price! 7SS58B Saratoga Springs 160 $77 Sep
160 points for 2018 + 160 for 2019 + 160 for 2020
No dues until 2018! $12,320

I thought when you bought points they are yours to use each year. If this is the case, why would someone need to buy points for 3 different years? I guess I still have a lot to learn.

They are, the listing is telling you that the seller used the 2016 and 2017 points and that you get points starting in the 2018 UY. Currently this contract is in the 2016 UY.

They are yours to use each year, but since points can be borrowed from future years, brokers will typically list a few years of available points for a given contract.

What's important about the details in this contract is that it's stripped. The 16 and 17 points have already used which is also why they aren't asking the buyer to pay dues until 18.
