Question about resorts and the "free dining"

I was wondering if someone could help with my question: my family have a room booked during the "free dining" promotion and we were thinking of booking another room so that our 21yr old and 14yrold could have their own room. Is this possible: to have one room with the "Free dining", tickets etc and another room just to spread out in? Or is this not allowed? Can you have your name on more then one reservation at a time?

Thanks

If you want to book another room as a room only reservation, I can't see WDW saying no!!

Yes, this can be done. Actually do it now to be honest as there are some really great room only discounts out there!

When you book the room, make sure you "link" both reservations. Have notes made on both reservations with the other reservation number and the request for connecting rooms. Please keep in mind that connecting rooms are not gaurenteed. You shouldn't have an issue with this, but calling CRO and directly speaking with a CM would give you the best idea of what to do. Keep in mind that because of the need for connecting rooms, you may lose out on other requests (locations, views, floor, etc)

No, you cannot have your name on more than one reservation for the same dates according to Disney policy. And since your elder son is over 18 you cannot, under Disney rules, book 2 rooms under the same reservation number. It wouldn't have been a problem if you had done this before they stopped booking new reservations for free dining but now it gets tricky. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to call Disney and ask if an exception could be made.

You CAN have 2 room ressies linked. You might not get connecting or adjoining rooms though.

You can have 2 rooms under one name. My cousin has a family of 6 and they always get two rooms. Oldest daughter is 28 with CP. Like PP said, you are not guarenteed ajoining rooms though.

I don't think you will be able to have two rooms with each having a different discount. But I actually have no idea about that.

wow,so many viewpoints! I'm Confused. I guess you'll just have to call the boss, WDW!

This is correct. I have two rooms booked at Pop. My DH and DS are in one room and I'm in the other room with DS's girlfriend. We have two reservation numbers and a "Travel With" number, which links the reservations. I have requested connecting rooms. No guarantee, of course.

Okay, while you can, I think, have your (i.e, the person making the reservation) name on more than one room at a time, I’m pretty sure you can’t have your kids in your room AND in a separate room AND keep the free dining promotion for them. Of course, with the apparent discounts, it may actually be cost-effective to get them their own room and pay for the dining plan for them.

we have a family of six ( kids are 10 and under) last september we stayed at the por and had a package for one room and booked an addtnl room for space. both under my name. it was no problem at all.

you can do it.

just book the other room with your son's name. anyone over 18 is okay with WDW.

that say - since your one of your kids is 21 - the resort may decide that the same building will do - or even the same section will do. So don't expect them to be just down the hall.

never expect connecting rooms - they generally try to save them for people with 3 or more kids.

make sure the reservations are linked - so at least they will tell you where your kids are.

you should see my reservations - have one for Sports for the free dinning - but my nephew and his girl friend are staying there. I am staying at AKV.
