Question about resort reservations online

I had a quick question. We are going on our 1st family Disneyland trip this summer and when I was looking at making our reservations, it shows you paying the whole lump sum being due now. What is up with that? When we made our 1st WDW family trip last year and I made ressies online, it just had a certain amount we had to put down, (deposit). Is there something wrong with the online ressie system or is this the real deal? Just confused............. Thanks for any help

NO. For Disneyland packages through the website/Walt Disney TRavel Company, you pay a deposit and the balance is due 30 days before your arrival date. For Disneyland Resort hotel bookings only, you pay a deposit of one night's stay.

Call the Walt Disney Travel Company directly. I find the cast members at the WDTC very friendly. Plus over the phone you can make request - room views, etc.

Without knowing particulars, I'll just ask questions.

Room only, or vacation package?

With room only, are you staying just one night, or several nights?


With the package, it should be a deposit, and then the balance due 45 days out, if memory serves.

With room only, they charge one night's stay (plus tax), with the rest due at the end of your stay (and then they add on each night's resort fee plus tax).


Although I booked our package stay online, through Costco Travel, when I booked our room only stay at PPH I just called them.

Call 'em, that's not right. They've been tweaking the heck out of their website recently, mainly for the worse LOL, and that's probably behind the problem.

Are you including airfare in your package? Sometimes it asks for the entire amount of airfare plus deposit to be paid now. But I agree with PP...call WDTC and see what they say.

This is what I found out two weeks ago when I made our resies:

I called and got an AP resie for the GCH. Then, I was looking on-line at the disney site and plugged in my dates and after taxes, etc, the amount was lower by $50. Well, I called the Disney reservations number right up and asked about it. The lady (who seemed a little snippy) told me that the AP rate was the best one available. I kept pressing her that I saw a lower rate. She finally admitted that the on-line reservations would be priced differently because it was done on-line and without the help of an agent. But, according to her, on-line you are required to pay everything up front.

I don't understand why. WDW rates seem to be the same on-line or on the phone. Also, there doesn't seem to be any explanation of the cancel policy on-line....

If you are booking hotel only through the WDTC website, the total is payable up front. If you are booking room only over the telephone with DLR Reservations, you only pay the first night up front.

There would also be a cancelation fee (if you needed to cancel) if you book on-line through the WDTC website. If you need to cancel and do it early enough from DLR Reservations, you get your money back.
