I've signed up for the one in Jan., and this will be my first one. Will WDW send out any special rates for those signed up? Or do the rates tend to go up during the marathon.

I'm hoping to stay onsite (usually do), and I'm really hoping for a stay at the CBR.

Elaine,
They do not send you anything. It has been my experience that the rates they say are for marathoners when you call are no different.I do remember last year they had a pin code or general public code but marathon days were blacked out.We went with AAA and got a better deal.

Elaine The past couple of years they have had AP rates or general public discounts for that time period. But whether you can get the resort or time frame you want is always a question.

In 2009, I stayed at WL on a discounted rate. This past year I stayed on points at OKW, but I do remember checking and I did find a discounted rate for one of the moderates.

The key is to pounce on it as soon as the discount is published, and maybe be flexible about dates.

Linda's idea about AAA is good, too. And you can book those directly through Disney as well, which means you can make one phone call and see what all your rate options might be.

Thank you both for the info! I'll start watching for a good rate. I usually don't book so far in advance, but since I'm committed to the marathon, I might as well. Hopefully airfare and time off work for DH will all fall into place.

Thanks again!

Hi!
I just booked the marathon package for Coronado Springs for Saturday and Sunday (we have a house at Windsor Hills, so I'm just escaping for the marathon..) The total rate with taxes for 2 nights was $369. Basically she said that you're guaranteed 2010 rates if you book now. (The 2011 rates probably won't be released until August, and they certainly will be higher.) The package requires a $200. deposit, and the cancellation policies aren't as lenient as they are if you book a room only. The package does come with free mini golf, though!!! :thumbsup2

The information hasn't been finalized yet for 2011 but Anthony Travel sometimes has package deals for many races around the county including WDW. Here is their page for WDW marathon weekend 2011. I ended up using them for the 2008 half because it was full when I decided to do it and they were the only group with space available. I had a good experience.
