Question about reserving 2 studios

My Dh and I are considering purchasing DVC through resale and could really only do 100 - 150 points. We would travel every other year so not a big deal, but we would stay in studios. So my question is how difficult is it to get 2 studios? I know that they will not be connecting and that is not a big deal since my father usually comes with us and he would take some of the kids. I need to know before I make this decision.

In general it is not difficult to reserve two studios. An exception would be to try to book 2 AKV concierge studios, or maybe even AKV value studios, on the same day 11 months out. Other than that, it's highly likely to book 2 studios. Where they are relative to each other is a request, and sometimes they will be close to each other and other times not close.

Also, studios and 2 bedrooms will book up the fastest, so booking as early as possible is key.

I've been able to do this several times, since I often bring my mother and we alternate between 2 bdrms and 2 studios. We have always been able to get studios near each other enough, whether just down the hall or same building.

what DVC are you buying?
we own at BWV and I booked anywhere from 2 to 5 standard studios every OCT for the food and wine festival 11 months out and have never had a problem.
We are going again this Oct and I have 3 standard studios booked.


it all depends on when you book and what DVC you want.

Thank you for all the positve returns. I was thinking about OKW or BWV. I would think that OKW would be easier since it is larger - feel free to correct me if I am wrong . AKV is interesting because of the value option, but I was thinking that there are probably not that many available thus making it harder to book - again feel free to correct me.

akv also has standard (same points as BWV standard).

have stayed in the value studio - twice. It is not hard to get so far. One of the reason is that standard is only a point more in cost (sun-thur) and much bigger rooms.

BWV only has studios and 1-bedroom. So you have a good chance (like AKV) of getting a dedicated studio (no extra door between you and 1-bedroom).

of course you need to get those early.

OKW has mostly 2-bedrooms - all the studios are lock outs - no dedicated at all. So always at OKW the studio will be connected to a 1-bedroom. this can and at OKW does add to the noise. If you get a noisey neighbor in the 1-bedroom part you will heard them at oKW. (AKV not so much they changed where the door is located)

You can sign up with the brokers to receive emails of new listings. I know that I used the TSS and asked them to contact me when a particular contract came available.

Sometimes, you can hear about the contract before it is released to everyone else.

if you get real party goers in the 1-bedroom part at OKW and it can be worst. if this happens to you - go to the swimming pool and get a couple of towels - open you part of the connecting doors - put one towel there - put the other towel at your door. this will not stop all the noise (would have to put something entire around the door to stop it) - but it does help.

the fan is white noise in some of the worst rooms at OKW - so may sure it is on if you have a noise problem.

most of the time OKW is nice, quiet and relaxing - but one never knows who ones neighbors will be. Most of the time they are nice families. But sometimes they are college kids who want to PARTY!!!

oh course we got out revenge - by always starting out early - especially if they were partying late night the night before.

We had noisy neighbors in the studio at OKW so now I'm looking for studios that have the connecting door closer to the entrance like SSR, or a dedicated studio to avoid that problem.

Thank you for the heads up on the studios and dedicated studios vs. shared rooms. We would probably be the loud neighbors - 4 kids coming and going between rooms. I put my name on the newsletter for on resaler and will look into putting my name in with the others.

Also, OKW has the only studios with two queen beds. All the others have one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa.

One thing I didn't see mentioned was the length of the contracts. Don't forget the AKV contracts are a lot longer than BWV. Be sure to take that into consideration when comparing prices.

We just stayed at the AKV for three nights and we totally loved the resort, however, we did feel like we were far removed from everything. I think the location of the BWV is much better, but we own there, so I might be prejudiced You don't mention the ages of your four kids, but from BWV as the kids get older they can come and go to Epcot and Hollywood Studios with no problem at all, and there is always fun going on outside on the boardwalk every night for kids of all ages.

We have stayed at OKW in the past and loved the size of the 1BR, but I don't think the studios are any larger than other resorts, though I am not sure since we never stayed in one. Someone can corect me if I'm wrong on that.
