My fiance and I just bought 160 points at AKV!!!! We plan on going to wdw for 14 days for our honeymoon from Nov. 1-14, 2009. I have heard on these boards that it is hard to get what place you want even at the 7 month mark. I plan on booking 1 week at AKV at the 11 month window, but we would like to spend the second week at BWV. Should I book the AKV for the whole time at 11 months, and then book the BWV and cancel the second week of AKV later? I don't want to end up not being able to get 2 weeks if BWV is unavailable, but 2 weeks at AKV is more expensive point wise and I would have to borrow from next years points if I booked the 2 weeks there, would I be able to put those points back when I cancel the reservation? I'm so confused, any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Once borrowed, points can't be put back. Make sure that you use the borrowed points first for the BWV reservation. The extra points, which would be current year points can be banked into next year.

If you borrow points for a ressie and then cancel, those points stay borrowed. You cannot send them back to the year from which borrowed. However, if you change the ressie at 7 months, you can have those borrowed points used for the changed reservation and just have current points put back into account, which you can then bank.

Difficulty at 7 months depends on time of year, resort, and what type room you want. I am not sure what point comparison you are making but you should assume at 7 months out in November it may be difficult to get lower point cost standard view at BWV (possibly can get it but don't assume you will); in fact you should assume that BWV standard point cost room may be difficult to get at 7 months out any time of year. However, BWV very often has preferred view (pool or garden) available at 7 months out.

Many reserve their own resort at 11 months and then attempt a switch at 7. It assures you will have a room. One thing you might consider if you don't want to borrow points, and your trip begins and ends on a weekend is to not reserve the last night or two if they are Fri and Sat nights; the reason: because of higher point cost those nights are very often open even if the resort is otherwise full at 7 months out (in other words if you cannot switch to BWV for a week, you will likely be able to add weekend nights at AKV at 7 months out)

I think the only real problem that time of year is 2009 Jersey week, if you find out when that is and book your AKV then you should have a good shot for the other week at 7 months.

That is also Food & Wine Festival time and the EPCOT-area resorts (BCV & BWV) can be very popular. I think you'll be okay if you call right at the 7-month mark, but you never know.

If you are staying two full weeks in AKV Savanah view studio, it will be 216 points which I assume means you will be borrowing 56 points. (This is checking in on Nov 1 and out on Nov 15.) Staying at AKV for first week and preferred view studio at BWV for second week will be 214 points, so it is two points less. In the unlikely event you are able to get a standard BWV, it would be 195 points.

If it were me, I would book all except the last night (14th) at AKV at 11 months which is 192 points. This way I know I will use all the points I have borrowed regardless of what happens with BWV and the only night I am missing is a Friday night and I can't imagine that I would be unable to pick that up at 7 months if I can't switch to BWV.

While you can wait on the whole BWV week and not book your home resort, I feel better if I know I have a room for at least the majority of the week. Picking up one weekend night is not as hard as picking up a whole week and if not immediately available, would come through on the wait list.
