Question about Reservation Confirmation...

Hi! I just have a question for some more experienced DVC people. I have a ressie booked through my friends points, but the reservation isn't showing up correctly. Originally, we could only get one of the three nights that we wanted, so we took the one night and waitlisted the other 2. So, we had a confirmation number for that one night and everything. Then, the waitlist came through, so we took it -- and I have the sheet that they mailed to her that says it is for arrival on the 13th and departure on the 16th. However, when I look up the reservation number on the website, it says it is for only 2 nights. I was going to do the online check in today, but don't want to in case something is mixed up. Would there still be a different reservation number for the one night that we originally took? I've never done the waitlist thing before, so i'm just not sure, and just want to make sure everything is alright.

Also, they just had a baby so things at their house are a little crazy...would I be able to call member services to check on this, or do they have to? Sorry for the long question, I just want to make sure that everything is good with my ressie!! Otherwise, we will be one night without a room!! :scared1:

I can't answer the question on the reservation #s. When we did a waitlist that came through (where we entirely switched from 1 resort to another), I can't remember if we got a new reservation #, but I don't believe we did. If you have the confirmation that shows the correct number of nights, I wouldn't be as concerned with what the WDW site shows. But that's me -- you may feel differently (and I don't use online check-in).

But no you cannot call member services, they will only speak with the member directly.

My trip next week, I booked the Monday through Thursday night first and had to waitlist the Sunday night (1st night of the trip). I got the first confirmation # for the last 4 nights; then, when the waitlist came through, I got a new confirmation for the first night only, with a different confirmation number. On the DVC website, it still shows as 2 separate reservations. I called Member Services and checked, and they said that they are linked in the system, and when I check in, they will confirm the entire stay length. So, you SHOULD be OK, but I'd as kthe member you rented from to call MS and double check, just to be safe!

Something similar happened to us a couple of months ago. We had a DVC points reservation for two nights, and waitlisted a third night. When the waitlist came through, the following two things happened:

1) the dvcmember.com web site showed the two reservations separately - the original reservation for two nights, and a second reservation for the third night with a different reservation number,

and

2) the printed confirmation we got in the mail a few days later had the confirmation number of the original two night reservation, but the date range covered all three nights.

Our two reservations had been requested to be "linked".

I think what you've seen is normal, and exactly what happened to us in October. Have your friend look on dvcmember.com and see what's listed on that site. Only the actual DVC owner will have the ability to use the dvcmember.com web site. On the dvcmember.com site, each reservation will be listed separately - in your case, the reservation number for the first night reservation, plus the reservation number for the (satisfied waitlist) second and third night reservation. Because the two reservations were "linked", the printed confirmation you got just gives the reservation number of the first night's reservation.

I would guess (but have not tried myself - mydisneyvacation.com seems to be down right now) that if you use the reservation number you don't know yet - the reservation number for the two night stay - in the public mydisneyvacation web site, it would show the dates you expect.

Hope this helps!
