Question about reports - trip or dining, doesn't matter!

I love reading them all!

And I love the reports that hotlink sections so you don't have to scroll through all the comments to get to the next part.

But I want to know how to do that so I can do the same for my trip report - can somebody explain how?

Thanks....when I'm on my iPad the stickies aren't right there, so I missed those!

I know how to add a link, but what I can't figure out is how they are linking it to a specific post in the thread. Or are people doing individual separate posts for their reports and linking that way?

I'm sorry, I am not sure what you are asking. Can you provide an example of what you are trying to do?

If you scroll down to the second post in the thread, she has "chapters" listed, and each chapter title is hotlinked to that particular post in her thread. That way, you can read her update, without having to scroll through all the comments and chit chat with other DISers to find it.

What I can't figure out is how to do that type of link. Does each post in a thread have a url I can link to?

That is included in the instructions in the FAQ:

How Do I Post a Link to my Trip Report and/or Chapter Links

Get the url address for your trip report and copy it.
For Chapter links click on the post # in the right hand corner it opens up a new screen and you can copy that URL.

Go to edit your signature, or edit on your first post, and then type out the name of your Trip Report or Chapter and highlight it.

Click on the link icon . Paste your url address there, then click okay.
