Question about renting points - how, when, etc?

I need some help, please. We have 300 points (200 BWV, 100 WVL, Sept. use year) and always use all our points, and usually do some borrowing from the next year. It seems my wish has come true and my sister and nephew are now Disney addicts! We went Jan '05 and are planning for Jan '07, but they can't wait two years!

We would like to plan a trip for Spring Break 2006. It's two adults and one child. I was looking into staying at Pop or All Stars, then it hit me - Why not try to rent some points??

We're looking at Sun to Thurs night, April 2-7, checking out on Fri. the 7th, in a studio. (My sister and nephew will be doing their traveling to me the Sat. before and the Sat. after, then we'll ride together to Disney on Sun and Fri).

So, what do I do first? We're at around the 9 month mark now (not quite). Do I rent the points and have them put into my account? If I rent points NOW, which use year will they go into? Or do I wait until after Sept. 2005 to rent (I'm a Sept use year), so they'll be in my Sept 05 - Sept 06 use year, so I can use them in April 06? What if I rent the points and then there is no availability? Can you bank rented points? Is my best bet to have the member I rent from make the ressie for me? Do I need to get this done before we hit the 7 month window? Soooo many questions.

You can rent points either way, either have the member make the ressie for you, or have the points transferred into your account, whichever works best for you. I believe that 2005 points, for example, would be put into your 2005 account so that you could make ressies. You would have to check for sure with MS, but I think points can be banked. Since you are looking so far ahead, you will have no trouble making ressies. The one difficulty is location you wish to stay--you didn't mention that, but let's say you wanted to stay at VWL. If you rented from me, I only have BW or OKW points, so you would want to wait until the 7 month window to use them. I always rent my points for travel in the fall, and usually people begin checking 3 months out, so you are on top of things. Congratulations!
