Question about Renting Points for 2-bed room

I noticed while looking over the point chart that a two bedroom tends to run about 7-10 points more than a 1 bedroom, depending on the season. Has anyone ever had a family member/s rent those extra needed points from someone else and then join you. I guess what I'm really asking is, how would you make that work?

Thanks,

Steph

Do you mean if you invite quests do they rent points? In re-reading it, I thought you might mean you were short a few points and wanted to rent some to make up the difference. If that is the case, they would have to be transferred into your account by the other member. One transfer is allowed per year per owner, so both would be charged with a transaction.

If you want to end up with a 2BR, you would have to make the reservation- so you would have to acquire the needed points. If you want to keep your 1BR and let them rent a studio from someone else, they could do that, but it's highly unlikely the rooms would be adjoining..and the point cost would be higher also-since it would be 2 individual reservations.

I'm sorry I wasn't very clear. What I mean is, say we have some friends or family who want to join us. We are not at the point where we have enough points to pull that off. So could we rent say 30 points from another member, add to the total we need for a 1 bedroom and rent a 2 bedroom, for a three day stay? This is in lieu of our friends/family renting the points needed for a studio. I hope my question makes sense now. I'm still trying hard to get smart on the points.

Thanks,

Steph

In that case, you would rent points and have them transfered to you by the other member.

One thing you could do if the member cannot transfer points (because they have already done it this year) is have them make a reservation for you for 1 or 2 of the nights (for whatever points you need) and have MS link the reservations together.

What we have done (well before I found these boards and renting) I would figure out how many points I need for a one bedroom, say for seven nights They when I called member service I would ask how many nights in a two bedroom I could rent with my one bedroom amount and then how much in cash reesie to extend the stay for the seven nights (with the discount). then the other family would pay the cash part. It worked out good for them cause it usually worked out to two nights in cash but they stayed for the seven. Hope this makes sense. I knew how to do it but to explain is different.
