I've read that several people rebook onboard the ship and then transfer the booking to their regular TA. How does that work exactly?

I've seen that Disney offers a % off of the cruise price plus an onboard credit. When you transfer the booking to your TA, are you then allowed to take advantage of their onboard credits, too? If not, why do you tranfer your booking to your TA?

I'm getting a rebate from my TA on our upcoming trip, but when I've asked about other promotions (like the recent CTC credit) she has told me that discounts and credits can't be combined.

Thanks!

we booked on board for 10% discount. transfered it to dreams unlimited after we got home thru their web site. the discount and ship board credit stayed with the reservation. The 10% is worth the hassle. seems hard to catch up with on-board sales person and always seems to be a line. Altho i knew exactly what i wanted with i sat down with her it seemed to take forever. To save time I booked in my name only and paid the $250 deposit. once home i added rest of the family and paid additional deposit amount. We stay with dreams because we have one particular agent who knows us well and it's nice to have a personal contact on such an extensive (and expensive!) vacation investment. I can't recall if dreams extended thier rebate. cruise is not until next summer and can't recall where i put paperwork. I want to say they DID but just not sure.

You can only claim one onboard credit offered by DCL--that is the $200 per stateroom or whatever they are offering for the rebooking while on board. However, if you use a discount TA who discounts by giving you a rebate or discount out of part of their commission, you can get the 10% off from DCL plus whatever the discount TA is giving.

Thus, I transferred to a TA who gives 7% off the cost of the cruise fare (not off the taxes, etc.) So...I got 10% off from DCL plus $200 credit from DCL PLUS 7% off of the cruise fare portion of the cost from the TA. It worked out to about 15% off the original package.

Ahh...that makes sense. Thanks for the info!

How does this work if you book a cruise and then transfer to one that isn't 'open' yet. We want to book a 7 night in 2006, but those dates are not open yet (we sail next month, so I don't know if they will possibly open by then, but since we are looking at a summer cruise, I am thinking they may only open the Jan-May cruises first even if they do open some 2006 dates).

So how does that work. I want the July 8th, 2006 seven night cruise.

If I book a cruise next month while onboard for the 10% off and the $200 onboard credit, can I still get that discount and credit if I switch it to the July 8th sailing once it comes out?

Thanks,
DJ

Yes, you can. I booked my August 2006 when we were on the Wonder last week. She put it in the computer for December 2005. She took down the cabin I wanted (was not available for the cruise she booked) and the dates I would like to go. She could not put specific dates because they don't know if it will be an eastern or western. I want the Western. By doing it this way when the 2006 become available we can transer the resurvations. Hope this helps.
