Hi,
I need 3 rooms and hoping for CSR in March. I am ready to make the reservation but the $200 package per room is killin me! Can I make 3 room only ressies and pay the first nights deposit on them, then later change them to packages with tickets? I don't need dining so I'm not looking for a promotion like s/p/d. What I'm asking is, are there limits on how many packages per resort like there are with promotions?
Thanks in advance :)

You cannot change a Room Only to a Package. The Room Only reservations would be cancelled, the deposits refunded and then the Packages would need to be booked with a $200 deposit due on each. If you don't want dining, why not just keep the Room Only and purchase the park tickets separately?

I like the idea of paying for them in installments and I'm worried about connecting the bands to mde! I just get the bands from the disney store?

Wouldn't you still get bands with a room only because it's considered your room key?

No, you do not need to buy bands. You can order them at the MDE website. When you purchase your park tix separately, you just enter the park tix numbers to associate the ticket w/ your band.

You'll still get bands with a RO reservation. If you order your tix separately but still through Disney, they should automatically link to your MDE. We had a RO reservation in August and as soon as I ordered our tix, they linked up in MDE.

You shouldn't have any trouble getting a package later on, but as the pp said, in order to change, the ROs will have to be cancelled/refunded and packages booked, requiring a new $200 deposit per room. Since RO and packages are different reservation systems, money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other. If you need a few extra days for the deposits, you could book the 3 rooms under a 7 day hold. You will officially be booked and get a confirmation, but the deposits wouldn't have to made for 7 days. Keep in mind that you must make the deposits on or before that 7th day or the reservations will automatically cancel, but it would give you a little more time to make the deposits without booking now and then canceling/rebooking at a later date to change the reservation type. Good luck.

had no idea!! Can you order them one by one?

If I have a basic package, We are not going to do dining. I am planning on buying hopper passes from a different vendor. How do I connect the passes to band? My other question I have is we needed to book 2 basic packages because we are changing rooms at AoA during our trip from a standard room to a suite( they said it is linked) Will I have problems with the bands after the room change. TIA

If you have a "package," there is some sort of park admission associated with it. So I'm not sure why you are buying park hoppers through a different vendor. Won't that double you up on park admission?

To your question, however, you just go into MDE and type in the number on the ticket media and assign that ticket to a member of your party. I've done this several times. I always get a room only reservation and then buy our park hoppers from Undercover Tourist.

As for the question on changing rooms, there shouldn't be a problem with the MB. That being said, we've had problems with MBs on our recent trips. The problem is fixed efficiently, but it's still a problem. (Won't open the door; charging privileges vanish; PIN stops working part way through the trip.)

If you booked a package, then you already have tickets as part of that package, by definition. Your tickets would show up on your MDE account automatically (in theory). But it sounds like you don't have a package. Just a room only reservation. Just clarifying here.

If you by from an independent seller like UT, you will find the number on the ticket when it arrives in the mail. Just enter the ticket number into your MDE account to link it.

As for your split stay, you need to check out and back in. At that time they should make sure that your bands will work properly for the second part of your stay. In theory. But glitches with this system are legion. Best of luck to you.

The basic package gives us the magical express tags and a free admission to mini golf. No difference in cost from a room only cost. It does not include anything else. We called disney for just the room and this was what was given to us. We did need to put the $200 down on each reservation though. Which is different if it was room only I believe. I don't want to use disney for hopper passes since they are more expensive through them. Thanks for the information. It was helpful. Can you tell me what MDE is?

Wouldn't that just change $200/package to one night's deposit for each room? Given the cost of csr, I feel that that would be going in the wrong direction, budget-wise.

When booking a package or room at wdw you get the magicbands. I don't even thing the Disney store sells them? You can get special bands once you are there at extra cost, but you don't have to.

Paying for what in installments? The rooms?

The magicbands? That is through your wdw account (mydisneyexperience). When it's the right time for them to be sent as long as you have confirmed your address and customized them (or not customized if everyone wats grey bands) they simply send them.

There is no charge for the magicbands when you have a room or package booked. The MBs hook up to your MDE account. The tickets you buy (with a package, without a package but from Disney, from undercovertourist, etc) are added to your MDE account. The MBs just access the account. And they are included when staying onsite.

So you got a ticketless package, which is something very new and only available by calling. The question many would have is if that's better financially than if there is a room-only promotion you're missing out on. Room-only lets you pay the rest once you are there. The package requires payment at 45 days out and is harder to cancel without penalty if that's necessary.

MDE is the account you have on disneyworld.com. My Disney Experience. It's what the tickets will attach to and so will the magicbands.

This doesn't make any sense. You can either book room-only which does not include any package vouchers (mini-golf, disney quest, etc.) and put down one night's deposit or you can book a package (room and tickets, room and dining or room/tickets/dining) which will include package vouchers (free mini-golf, etc.) and put down a $200 deposit. Both room-only and packages include Magical Express.

I think you should check your confirmation and see what the CM booked for you. If you put down $200, you booked a package and that means either tickets or dining were included on your reservation.

MDE is My Disney Experience

OP - I know it may hit hard financially now, but I would book the packages at $200 a piece. Otherwise, if you do room-only, you will have to buy your tickets outright prior to the 60-day mark to make your FP+ reservations. With 3 rooms filled with people, that equals thousands of dollars in non-refundable tickets that you will have to purchase to make FP+ at the 60 day mark with a room-only reservation. With the package, you are only putting down $600 to get those FP+ and it's totally refundable up to 45 days prior to check-in. In the long run, the $200 package deposit may be your safest financial bet.
