Question about pricing through authorized ticket sellers...

We are planning to buy tickets through a 3rd party and then upgrade to annual passes when we get there to save money with the price bridging. I'm trying to figure out which tickets will give us the biggest savings. We have 3 adults and 2 children. If I look at the price comparison at touringplans, it says that I can buy a 7 day hopper ticket from officialticketcenter for $2308.75. It says that is a savings of $377.77. However, when I price out those same tickets directly from Disney, I'm getting $2540.05 which makes it really a savings of $231.30. Why is the savings that they are reporting different? Am I missing something?

It's difficult to figure out the best tickets to buy for the biggest savings if the reported savings are incorrect!

I was just looking at this and this is what I figured out: most of these sites are reporting savings versus buying at the gate. There's a small savings for buying in advance if the tickets are 3 days or longer. From mousesavers:

"Tickets of 3 days or longer cost $21.30 less (including tax) when purchased in advance online or over the phone, as opposed to buying in person at the Disney World ticket booths, hotel desks or guest services."

Interesting. I had no idea. Thank you! I guess I'll have to calculate a few to see what will be best. I'm thinking this 7 day hopper ticket will give the biggest discount but I'm not 100% sure yet.

And be sure that you're including sales tax - most of the 3rd party sellers include it in the price they list, Disney lists the pre-tax price first and you have to scroll down to see the tax-included price.

7 day hoppers usually are the best deal, especially if they're part of a 5 days + 2 days free deal.

Keep in mind that you can only book fastpasses for the number of ticket days that you have.

Good to know! We are actually only going to be there 6 days so I think 7 day park hoppers will cover it. When we upgrade, I'm assuming nothing will happen to our fastpasses that are already reserved then, correct???

Yes...I'm including sales tax.

Checking to see if there are positive reviews for officialticketcenter and broadwayticketing? I haven't purchased from either and did a search and didn't see anything negative, but thought I'd check. Thanks!
