Can someone explain to me why the parks supposedly get so crowded for this week. Some people get that monday off but thats it. Its not like everyone has the whole week off. Kids are in school at that time too. Unfortunantely, Mardi Gras is the same week in 2007. So is it going to be completely miserable with the crowds?

Most of the schools in the Northeast have that week off for February vacation.

I went last Pres Week and I thought the crowds were not too bad as long as we avoided the parks that had the EMH and got to the parks at opening! The rides weren't walk on - but we managed to do everything we wanted in 3 full days and 2 half days.

If you can avoid that week, I either go the week before or the week after.

Thanks for the response. The reason I am asking is because that is when my fiance and I are going on our honeymoon. We both really love disney world but we have both vowed to never go at an extremely crowded time again. The honeymoon is actually 2 weeks after the wedding because we figured we could go at the mardi gras break since we live near New Orleans. She is a teacher and figured that would be a lot easier than getting a week off. I'm guessing there is a huge difference in crowds between Presidents week and the week before. Is that right?

Yes, there is a HUGE difference between the two weeks.

If you must go President's Day week, arrive on the Friday after the holiday. The crowds are thinning out by then.

We go every Mardi Gras and have overlapped with presidents week before and the parks are always managable. I would avoid MK on weekends if possible though. I have found that with the exception of Christmas, New Years, Easter and summer, the crowds stay about the same the rest of the year.

Have a great time. :thumbsup2

I, being the intense Disney Planner that I am had to go in Pres Week '06, :sad2: becuase my sil wouldn't pull the kids out of school...It wasn't that bad, but don't forget I had the plan, rope drops, early, everything!

Just make sure you rent a car, we stayed at the all stars and the biggest mistake I made was relying on the bus, it's too crowded (IMO) and we waited sooo long for the busses and TONS of those electric wheelchairs (which take a long time to get them on and off the bus)

*** Okay no flaming :furious: (wheelchairs are fine!) :lmao:
