Question about prepaying CRT and DDP

Hello,

Sorry if this has been addressed, I tried to search and couldn't find the answer. I have booked a reservation for CRT and paid the deposit for the four of us. I plan on adding the dining plan to our reservation (DVC reservation). Will the deposited be credited back when the dining plan is added or when we eat at the restaurant and use the credits?

Unfortunately you had to tell them right away, you could cancel and try to rebook but I DO NOT ADVISE that because you could lose your reservation time and not be able to get it back.

But when you do go to CRT, you can use your dining plan, just explain to your server that you have the dining plan and they will refund your credit card.

ok so if I understand correctly they'll refund the credit card after the use of the credits for the meal?

I'm not sure what constitutes "telling them right away" but I had a pre-paid CRT reservation and, when I added DDP to my package, I called dining reservations and provided my package confirmation #. They refunded my credit card, but I still kept the reservation. It just occurred to me that maybe there was still availability and they actually booked a new reservation and cancelled the pre-paid one, but I don't think so, because my confirmation # didn't change. Logically, of course there's availability, since you already have a reservation and if they cancel that one it would be available, but they like to make sure to give you a new reservation before cancelling the old one to make sure someone else doesn't snatch it up while they're making the change.

CRT is a fully pre-paid meal, not just a deposit, so your credit card was charged for the full amount when you made the reservation. Once you add the dining plan you can call dining reservations and have your package number linked and the amount credited back to your account. Or, you could wait until you dine at CRT and let your server know you'll be using dining credits and they'll process the refund.

If you don't mind waiting, my preference is to do it at CRT because you might decide to pay OOP anyway and save the credits for other meals. A lot of people feel using 2 credits at CRT is not cost effective. Also, I've read too many stories about dining line CMs messing things up. If you get a knowlegeable one that's great, but I'd rather not take the chance.

If you opt to call reservations for a refund, they will still need your credit card number, because CRT has a no show fee if you don't show up and fail to cancel no later that 48 hours in advance.
