Question about Postponing Trip -- What Should I Know Before I Call?

DH and I have a 10-day trip (resort, tickets and DDP) plus a Fireworks Cruise (pontoon for the 2 of us) scheduled for February. However, we'll be postponing it, and need to do so by January 6. I want to postpone to dates in February 2021. I understand that my date change will mean that I'll have a room-only reservation until packages are announced this summer, but is there anything else I should be aware of? Caveats? Things that certain CMs might tell me that is incorrect?
ETA: We're driving, so we don't have airline tickets to consider.
Thank you!

If you book room only before packages come out then switch to a package once available, your quoted room price will change.

I booked room only back in Feb of this year for May next year. I did not switch to a package when they came out and my room price stayed the same, which was actually cheaper than the room only prices once packages came out. Hope that makes sense! People told me that I would be booking at the highest rack rate of all 2019, but that's not actually what happened.

Thanks Farro.... I remember replies from you about a month ago when DH first sprung the news on me about postponing because of our older dog. As much as it crushed me to postpone so close to a trip, DH is right. Our dog is declining lately, and I dont want to put the responsibilities of caring for him onto someone else. 😔

I get it, been there too many times lately it seems. Good luck with your dog, I hope he stays healthy for longer or if not that everything is as peaceful as possible.

iI it were me, I'd just cancel it and get the refund. Then when packages come out, rebook it. Seems like a little less hassle, and I'm not sure there's all that much benefit to booking it now (unless someone can argue that statement).

Well when I booked 499 (ish) out, my room rate was cheaper than when the packages came out for the next year. It stayed that way because I didn't switch it to a package. Now if you switch to package, switch dates, then rate goes up to new year's rates. So in order to keep lower rate, you have to book, keep the same and buy tickets separately. And no dining plan.

Although I threw all that out the window when Gran Destino released prices and they were too hard to pass up!

Odds are, price will change no matter what type of booking from/to, when the 2021 rates come out in June of so.

OP, before anything: cancel the fireworks cruise. You don't want to forget, then he charged anyway.

My room only rates did not change when the new year rates came out, stayed exactly the same. Price I had was lower than the new rates that came out.

Thanks everyone!
I cancelled the package and booked room-only for February 2021. Sure, I could have just cancelled and waited until packages are announced in June, but it just "felt better" for me to book room-only, since I was 50 or days from the original vacation. Cancelled ADRs and fireworks, thanks for the pointers!
