My husband and I have been to Disney twice before, but this is the first time we are staying on Disney property. We are staying at POFQ and I wanted to know if it is possible to use the pools at the PORS as well and their amenities in general.

Yep! They are sister resorts, so guests can utilize amenities at both. And if you get one of those refillable mugs, you can fill it at either food court. :thumbsup2

DH and I are staying at POR in May....good to know we can use the pools at POFQ!

Yep! And it's a lovely ride down the "Ole Mississippi" on the ferry from one to the other. You're going to LOVE it. POR is uppermost in my heart though. Except for the baguettes and pralines at POFQ!

So we arrive at POFQ tomorrow and I have never stayed at a Disney Resort before. My question is does your room not get assigned until you arrive. Also is there a way to get free upgraded rooms, either bigger or maybe waterview? Is their anything special you have to ask for. Thanks for your anticipated help.

It is a beautiful ten min or so stroll if you don't catch the boat and don't want to wait for the next one. From POFQ to POR, you may also be able to take a bus. Since the busses pick up at POFQ first, just ask the bus driver if he/she will be stopping at POR to pick up other guests. The South Depot is the main area, closest to the food court/restaurant and main pool area.
Breakfast at POR's Boatwrights is fantastic and Bob Jackson the piano man in the River Roost Lounge, is a total hoot for all ages.

There really aren't any bigger rooms at POFQ, but when you get there you could ask nicely if they have a waterview room for you. When I stayed last August I had booked a standard but got a waterview room. If they are full and it isn't possible to get this upgrade, I'm sure you will still enjoy your standard view room with a view of the lovely grounds.

Thanks a lot, I'm really looking forward to this trip. I dont plan on spending to much time in the room so either way I'm sure it will be fine.
