I have a standard room booked. Are certain buildings considered not standard? Like can I request a room in any of the buildings as long as it's a standard view? I'm looking at the map of POR to see what room would suit me and my 16 month old son the best. We are going by ourselves tomorrow and i've never done disney by myself with just a single child, much less a young child. What building would you suggest to be close to the food court and buses?

Another question... why on the map are only half the buildings numbered? Is building 14 a good building? What kind of building is it?

At POR every time I had a standard room, I got the parking lot view in the way back of the mansion Parterre Place. Certainly not near anything! Also be aware that if you are not a family of five, you have a very good chance of getting the mansions, so Building 14 may not be possible, since it's in Alligator Bayou. I stayed at POR solo two weeks ago and asked politely for Alligator Bayou and once again denied and placed in a mansion, again. Sigh. :(

I do believe that mansions have water views and standard views located within each one. Water views are closer to the river and I would guess the pool, too.

It is a beautiful resort, so hopefully you will enjoy your room wherever it is! :)

When we stayed at FQ we took the boat over to the POR. It seemed so HUGE. I have a bad back and will just be me and the 16 month old and i'm cringing thinking about having a really long walk to get to anywhere.... :-(

We are a family of 4. We stayed at POR for the first time last week and loved it! I requested the AB section and asked for either building 14,15 or 18.
We were assigned 15 and it was great! Close to the food court and quiet pool. The walk to the main pool wasn't bad either. The mansion section is beautiful as well. I would look at a map of the resort when they tell you what your room is. They will do this when you check in even if the room isn't ready. If it isn't what you want ask the CM if it can be changed. I'm sure they will if they can. I found them to be very helpful.

Have a great time!

We had standard view and were in building 15, which we loved, but we are also a family of 5, so they had to put us in AB. I'd suggest just telling them you're the only adult with a small child and you need something close to the main building. That should help them choose the right room for you -- AB or Mansions.
