Question about Pop Warner and Values

Hello all,

We are currently schedule to be at Riverside from Nov 29 - Dec 6 2013. We are thinking of changing our resort to Pop Century and using some of the savings to do things like the Wild Africa Trek. Since my daughter and I are park commandos until late in the trip, I dont think it would really be a difficult change.

At this time, we dont know if Pop Warner will be there that week. (It's the first week of December, but also the week after Thanksgiving...there seems to be conflicting info whether or not they will be there then) I dont see where they have ever stayed at Pop Century other than a few overflow families. Is this an accurate statement? Has anyone ever had any experiences with Pop Warner at Pop Century? I'm not real big on Pop Century, but I am afraid to change to one of the All-Stars since they may be there during the same time.

Thanks everyone!

I know pop warner is from dec. 1-9. I'm not sure what resort everyone stays at, but this is usually the time we go and it seems there are participants at other resorts besides all stars. I know we had a hard time getting a room at AoA this year for the 8 & 9th 10 - 14 no problem. We've been at POR and CSR in the past and shared the weekend with them there also.

I've heard they don't stay at the POP often....that if the All Stars are booked they usually overflow to a Moderate.

They actually get a choice of a value and a mod. Those who depend solely on fundraisers go value and people who have been before, or kick in extra money on their own, will stay mod.

You are a week early. They start one week from the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I stay that week at POR every year. They are arriving as I am leaving, except last yera they stayed at CBR due to the refurb.

They stay the first FULL week in December.

If you look at availability at CBR and POR, there is limited at CBR. POR has availability.

PW books into one value, with another value as overflow and one moderate (depending upon what teams wish to pay.) These resorts are not "set" and can vary from eyar to year, though usually Sports is included.

I am Childless By Choice and cannot be considered Child Friendly--yet I have stayed in the SAME resort as PW at the same time and have never, ever had an issue.

We stayed in POR for dd's PW competition. I guess I didn't know there was a choice...we were told that's where we were staying! :rotfl: It was fine with me though!
(<---My pic is from that trip!)

Good to know :) I really don't think that it matters where they stay as long as they are well behaved....I'm sure at any given time in Disney there are groups of teens or other traveling groups. We've never been bothered by any of them....we've never been during Pop Warner week though so maybe I'm completely wrong and it's horrible LOL.

Been there; done that; never again.

I accommodated three friends who wanted to go with me and couldn't leave Thanksgiving weekend. Unbeknowst to me, we were booked at POR in the middle of Pop Warner. They informed us we had already been moved to CSR; our bags where there as well.

I refused to move from my reservation that had been booked almost a year before. Big Mistake. By the time I decided to move, it was too late; anyone who could have already did and CSR was completely booked.

What is sad is the worst was the parents; they were like sailors on leave. It was a shame. It put a lot of burden on the coaches to keep the kids in line; the boys were actually amazing; the girls were a bit much with the cheering (especially on the buses while they were moving; we stopped a lot that week).

Thanksgiving is pretty late next year, so the week after that Sat. is the 8- 14th (Sat- Sun). Doesn't that seem awfully close to Christmas? Anyone know if it has been that late before?

edit to add: Actually, the week after Thanksgiving is the first full week of Dec next year: the 1st -8th. **************.net expects that to be Pop Warner week. http://**************.net/2010/05/30/pop-warner-week-at-walt-disney-world/

Thanksgiving falls on the 4th Thursday of November, so it is the 22nd.

Count one week from Saturday, the 24th, which is the 1st of December, which is when they start arriving.

This year, November has five Thursdays.

Thanks for all of the replys! I have decided to bite the bullet and we switched to All-Star Music. My daughter said "Dad...I don't care where we stay at. I just want to go to Disney". So that settled it. It's hard for me to move from a moderate since I enjoy them, but this will save a bit of money for us.

There is still conflicting info on when Pop Warner will be in 2013. For now, I will go with the first full week in December from the Saturday after Thanksgiving and guess that we are a week early. And thanks Missytara, I didn't even think to check availability, and sure enough CBR is limited. :thumbsup2

Of course this is the second change to the resort reservation since July...so I am sure by the time it rolls around, we may very well be back at Riverside. :goodvibes

Edit: Ugh...I just saw your link Focusondisney.

Sorry, if I'm wrong, but the OP is talking about next year....2013. Thanksgiving is very late next year, the 28th, so the first week of Dec is actually the week right after Thanksgiving.

Ooops! Thanks for pointing that out.

So many of these questions come up this time of year, as it gets closer and closer to "show time."

::yes:: I know! My problem is I have to make all my 2013 vacation requests early this Nov. So I'm stalking the boards trying to figure out what week it will be in 2013.

I tried going back several years on the PW website & looking at what dates the tournament was. Problem is, I couldn't find a year when Thanksgiving was so late. Like I said, next year Thanksgiving is the 28th; Dec 1st is the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. So that really is the first full week in Dec. And the following week would put it at the 8-15th, which seems too close to Christmas.

Ugggh, I'm giving myself a headache! :headache:

Pop Warner starts on the Saturday following the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend.

So in 2012 the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend is November 24th. Therefore Pop Warner week starts on Saturday November 31st.

In 2013 the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend is November 30th. Therefore Pop Warner week starts Saturday December 7th.

As long as you know the date for the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, the Saturday one week later is the start of Pop Warner.

I hope that makes sense.:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone again! I have decided to just stick with Riverside...so I changed the reservation back yesterday afternoon.

Such is life when Disney planning! :)
