Question about POP and love bugs?

This is my first time staying at POP and I heard about the love bugs (I think that's what they are called). When are they out. We're going at the beginning of August and I was wondering if they would be a problem. I have heard such great things about POP and I hope the love bugs won't be a problem. Thanks for any help.

I have stayed at Pop in early August (2006) and had no problems with Love Bugs. I am not sure if we just got lucky and/or it was a fluke, but we didn't see any at all. We were there in mid-September this year and saw a few....but not enough to be a problem or anything. Hope this helps!:goodvibes

POP is AWESOME!!

Nope shouldnt be a problem! We were there in late August and they weren't a problem I read that September is when they really start to come out and are noticeable.

No love bugs at the beginning of August. But even if there were, it doesn't matter what resort you pick. There aren't more bugs at one resort vs. another.

Love bugs kind of remind me of a cross between a lady bug, and a box elder bug. Lots of them and very annoying.

Love bugs are not exclusive only to Pop. When they are out, it is standard bonus feature at all of the resorts:goodvibes

We stayed at POP this year Sept 9 to Sept 14.
We did not see any lovebugs until our last day. It was the only full day we spent at POP and I only noticed them when we were at the pool.

I don't think they're exclusive to Pop!! :goodvibes We ran into quite a few on the trip down in Sept. Didn't really notice them once we got there. At least they don't bite :scared1:

From wikipedia:

Lovebug flights can number in the hundreds of thousands. The slow, drifting movement of the insects is almost reminiscent of snow fall. Two major flights occur each year, first in late spring, then again in late summer. The spring flight occurs during late April and May, the summer during late August and September. Flights extend over periods of four to five weeks.

Also, the proper spelling is lovebug, all one word. It's not a bug, it's a march fly. Only true bugs have bug as a separate word.

they are just the cutest things. especially when they get in your hair or when they completely cover the surface of your resort pool or land on your turkey leg. not to mention that they are mating while all this is happening. come to think of it i knew a few kids in high school that acted the same way. gotta love em.

We stayed at Pop in Sept. and although they were out, they weren't a problem. They're easy to flick off a shoulder or arm and don't bite. Bugs in general have never been a big problem there.:thumbsup2

we were there in mid September last year and I was really nervous that it was going to be gross with all the reviews I read about the love bugs. I didn't even notice them. You saw some bugs here and there but we never had them on us or saw them swarming, it was really nothing noticeable.
