I am a newbie on the boards. Excuse my dumbness. My DH and I are having our 30th wedding anni. at the Poly. resort. We have not been to WDW since 1994 and I have a few questions. (I cant wait, dare I say that) Is it corny to get emotional about being a kid again? Is the Poly as romantic as Ive read or should we have stayed at GF? We are staying from Nov. 12 to Nov. 20th. Has this given us enough time to see all of WDW? I requested the Tahiti longhouse, GV. Good choice? The boards here are very good. Thank You!

Welcome to the DIS, Poppinsme!

Happy 30th anniversary! It's not corny to be excited about your trip! We all get excited like little kids for our Disney trips :) Just wait until you splash through puddles eating a dole whip :)

I think you'll be fine at the Poly. You can go sit on the beach with your DH and watch the fireworks and the Electric Light parade at night. It will be fine :)

November 12-20 should be plently long to see everything you want. I won't tell you that you'll see it all--I've been to Disney 20+ times, and I still haven't seen it all.

The Tahiti longhouse should be fine. It's one of the cloest buildings to the ticket and transportation center. I prefer Tokelau--it's an ideal central location, and if you get lucky, you may get a partial view of the water from your garden view room.

Make sure you put on your reservation that it is an anniversary trip. No guarantees, but they may do something special for you if they know about your big day!

Have fun planning.

Hello and welcome!
I think it's fair to say all of us here on the DIS get excited about upcoming trips. Have not stayed at the Poly but have read a lot of nice things about it. You must try the Kona Cafe. We have had dinner there our last two trips and the food is really great. Many people here also love the Kona breakfast.
As for seeing everything while you are there..........Forget about it!!!!! :rotfl:
WDW is so large you won't even recognize the place. The previous poster has been like twenty times and has not seen everything. I can totally understand that. There is always something new to ride, or see, or discover while there. Try going over to allearsnet.com and mousesaver.com for more information. Of couse, keep reading these boards for great tips.
Have a great anniversary at the World! :wave2:

Aleatha,
The Polynesian is my favorite resort, so for me there isn't a more perfect place to stay. I find the resort very romantic and intimate with it's theming, its beach and all its meandering walkways. The palm trees and lush, colorful foliage add to its appeal. (And I love that sound of the bamboo swaying softly in a breeze) Nights are especially romantic with all the lit Tiki torches and soft background music, and the nighttime views of the GF, MK, CR, monorail and ferry while lit up are spectacular.

If the GF is more appealing to you though in its theming, you may want to consider staying there. Have never myself. We often take the walkway over to the GF...daytime and evening strolls are nice...and I have always found it busier and more crowded than the Polynesian. The only place that has ever seemed crowded to me at the Polynesian is the GCH and the volcano pool.

We have stayed in Tahiti and enjoyed its quiet location and closeness to the TTC. The walk to the GCH wasn't an issue, since we are big walkers. We've also stayed in Tokelau and prefer that longhouse.

I think 8 days will be fine for enjoying yourselves and celebrating your 30th. Congratulations to you both and many more happy years! You may not see everything, but I find 8 days enough time to have a relaxing trip and enjoy and see much. Just do some preplanning and reading before you go.

And as far as getting emotional, there are many of us that do. I hope that never changes! Enjoy!

Me again....I assume you've been to Tikiman's site. He's the man when it comes to Polynesian information. Lots of info and great pics.

Thank you for such kind words. I cannot wait to go. Tikiman's site is great and very informative.

Once again thanks for a nice wellcome!

Happy 30th anniversary.

Is it normal to get excited about going to Disney. Of course. It's the happiest place in the world.

Although I have never stayed at the Poly, I just love visiting the lobby and taking it all in. I'm having dinner at Ohana's for the first time in 16 days. I can't wait. I personally think it's the most romantic place in the World.

It is a nice amout of time to see a lot of the World. Enjoy each other and enjoy the most magical place on earth.
