Question About Points...

ONCE WE BOOK A MEMBERS GET A WAY PACKAGE TO HAWAII, AND THEN THE FOLLOWING YEAR WE WANT TO GO BACK TO DISNEY, IS IT EASY TO SWITCH BACK THE POINTS TO THE DISNEY TIMESHARES?? THERE WON'T BE ANY PROBLEMS GETTING INTO THE DISENY TIME SHARES AGAIN, RIGHT??

The points are like special cash that members can use. Just look at them like that. Points are points, it does not matter where you use them, or where you bought them orginally,except for the 11 month reservation situation. All members have leased points for a certain amount of years getting an allowance every year to spend as we wish on destinations that DVC offers. You can go to WDW or whatever it does not matter. I suggest you read FAQ section on the top here.

I'm not sure I understand your question. You can use your points to make any type of reservation at any resort/option as long as their is availability.

If you book a vacation to Hawaii (or to any non-DVC option), those specific points become what they call "reservation" points. If for some reason you cancel the Hawaii trip, those points cannot be used to stay at a DVC resort and they can't be banked or borrowed. They can be used for any and all of the other options including the Disney World resorts, cruises, concierge collection stays, etc. etc.

But, if you want to use other points to stay at DVC, having taken an outside trip has no effect whatsoever on your ability to make a reservation.

If I understand your question, the answer is you will have no problems. However, I want to make sure I'm clear to give you the best answer. If you exchange to HI, the only points you give up are the ones for that exchange. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CHANGE ANY OF THOSE POINTS BACK if you actually accept an exchange to HI or any other II option. If you have requested but not accepted an exchange, no problem. If you've already given up points for an exchange, you can use other points for direct DVC options assuming you have points available. Does this cover your questions.

OK, LETS SAY THAT WE USE ALL OF OUR POINTS FOR 2005 FOR HAWAII. THE FOLLOWING YEAR WE DECIDE THAT WE WANT TO USE 2006 POINTS AND GO BACK TO DISNEY. WILL THAT BE A PROBLEM?

It depends on your use year and when you want to go. Assuming you use all your 2005 points for HI, you can use your 2006 points for any time starting with the first day of your 2005 use year. You'd have to borrow of course for this time. If your stay started with or after your 2006 use year, you wouldn't have to borrow and could also use 2007 borrowed points if need be.

As mentioned, think of your points as special money that you receive once a year. Since you used your whole paycheck of special money for 2005, you are now broke until you get a new paycheck next year. DVC will let you get a refund if you need to on your HI trip, but they give it to you in a "gift card" that can only be used at certain stores and only in the current year. When you get your next paycheck in 2006, you can again spend it any way you want, with no restrictions. Did that help, or make matters worse??

thank you for your help!!! i understand now.. one other question..

say we use all of our 2005 points in 2005 and also borrow some points from 2006 to go to hawaii. and in 2006 we decide to go back to disney with our left over points from that we didn't use... is that ok too?

i am sooo sorry if i am being a pain, i just want to make sure that we don't screw ourselves in anyway with the points!!
