If you cancel a night I know they say they will but the points back into the use year of the reservation. What I was wondering if then you could bank those points that were canceled if you do not use them. I just become a member my home is OKW thanks for your help. Tracy;)

If the points are eligible to be banked, yes, they can be banked.

To elaborate... To be able to bank the points released, your cancellation has to be more than 30 days before your arrival date and you have to still be within the banking window of your use year.

If you cancel less than 30 days before arrival, they go into a holding account where you must use them in your current use year. Also, if you cancel and you are already past the date within your use year where you can bank points, you have to use them within the current use year or loose them.

Hope that helps.

As long as (a) you cancel 31 or more days before arrival date, (b) the points that go back into your account that you want to bank were not themselves banked or borrowed points when you made the reservation, and (c) you are still within the first eight months of your use year when you cancel, then (d) you can bank the points applicable to that use year.

Note, you are contemplating removing one day from an existing trip. That 31 day or longer cancellation rule applies to date of arrival. Thus if that day you want to remove is the last day of your currently scheduled trip, you have to cancel that day no later than 31 days before your scheduled arrival date to avoid the holding account, not 31 days before the particular day you want to cancel.
