We have calculated that we need 363 points and we are buying resell. I know there is no chance of getting this exact amount resell so tell me are we better off buying more or less? Should we shoot for 350, 375 or 400? And how does all of that work when you book? Meaning if we have 350 points but I need 363 for my vacation is it fairly easy to purchase directly from disney for my vacation every year (to keep it simple) for my vacation? otherwise borrowing etc would be a mess i think.....

Banking and borrowing are easy everyday transactions. I would buy a few more points than necessary and bank the extra.

Plus there is always the chance the amount of points will be changed for the time of year and room type you are planning on now. Of course that change could also go in your favor and require less points in the future.

I agree with the previous poster that borrowing and banking is quite easy.

I believe 25 is the minimum Disney will sell. Anything over that can be bought. We have a 29 point contract we bought resale, but I do not think those odd amounts are common. All our other contracts are in increments of 25. If you are buying resale you are at the mercy of what is being sold.

Just my two cents, but I would not buy one large contract for 350-400 points. Large contracts are hard to sell, and if you decide you do not need that many points, you cannot sell off part of a contract. I would buy two to three small contracts. It may cost a little more, and you may have to buy one at a time to get the same use year, but it gives you a lot more flexibility down the road.
