Question about point transfers?

I am a little confused about point transfers. I have a dec use year and borrowed and used most of my points coming dec 07. If I want to rent points and have them transferred into my 07 use year for a trip next summer, I have to borrow from someone else that is still in their 07 use year, correct? If their use year is early in the 07 year will they expire sooner, do I have to have someone with a Dec use year transfer to me. Sorry to be so long winded, but I am trying to understand this. TIA

If you have never done a transfer before, you can borrow into your 06, 07 or 08 UY. You may have to wait until Dec when you are in your 07 UY to receive a transfer of 08 points, however. The points can come from any UY, but must be from a UY that will current or banked into a UY that works for your Summer 08 trip. This is because you can bank trasnferred points but cannot borrow them.

So, for a June 08 trip, you could get a transfer from an 06 Sept UY thru a 06 Dec UY, which are then banked into 07. Or you could get a transfer from a Feb 07 UY thru June 07 UY, which are then banked into the 08 UY. Or you could get a transfer from an Aug 07 UY thur June 08 UY, which would be current points for a June 08 trip.

Thank-you for trying to explain this to me. I am still a little confused. If I want to travel in the summer of 08, I would still be in my 07 use year because it is a Dec start. So therefore I don't think I can transfer points from someones use year that is already in 08. Do they not have to be within the same use year. So do I not have to find someone also in an 07 use year?Thanks again to anyone that can help.

I have a Dec use year. I just transferred in from someone that had points that were March 08 use year. Those points took on my Dec 07 use year.

It was a little tricky with MS, they didn't seem to really know how to handle it and it took a bit of time. I have called to verify they are Dec 07 points now, but they do NOT show up on the website.

While the points are not supposed to "morph" into your UY, as Karen reported they obviously still do. You should not , however, count on that, so make sure the points you are renting are good for Summer 08 (with banking) even if they don't morph.
