question about point rental or transfers

Hi -if I had points transferred to my account, would it make a dif.f where the "home" points were? i.e.- if I got 100 points transferred from "you",home resort is BCV,but I want to use them at my home resort,OKW,are the points worth more at "your" home resort,or is it the same no matter where i use them? I hope I worded this question right... also, is it true that transfers are simpler to do than actual rental? And what's the best way to check on a"renters" track record with "rentees?"
