Question about planning a trip for Thanksgiving week

OK, I have been reading all about how the new reservation system will negatively impact getting reservations for peak times. I am new so I really have nothing to compare the new system against.

My question is, will I be able to reserve something for the Wed. before Thanksgiving at my home resort for next year? My home resort is AKV. I don't want conceirge or value or anything like that. All I want to reserve is either a one bedroom or two bedroom (don't even care about what view) Wed-Sat of Thanksgiving week. Is this an impossibility or what? I mean people keep talking about walking reservations (I'm not even exactly sure what this means).

I just thought I could call at the 11 month mark and get a reservation. Please tell me if I am being naive here!

As long as you call right at the 11 month window and aren't trying for value or concierge, you will be fine.

I've gone up to the Wed before Thanksgiving, and the crowds got busier, and busier and busier as you approached Thanksgiving.
Too busy for me, but I've never experienced an insane time like Christmas day or NYE where they close parks for reaching capacity!

I've been during Christmas. Didn't do a park on Christmas day though, but did MK on Christmas Eve from rope drop to park closing and it was actually fine. Followed TGM and didn't have any problems. So I guess we'll be ok for Thanksgiving!
