I dont know about the small popcorn like stands, but you can in fact charge meals and other gift items to your card.

PS: When you purchase something, you can have it shipped back to your resort. Including ride photos.

You can charge just about everything to your room..... Know what your limit is, it varies from value, mod, and del. resorts. You can also pay halfway through your trip to leave more "charging" room.

Not all carts have the charging machines to charge to your rooms, so some cash would be helpful for these things.

But to be able to use the room charge feature you will still need to use a credit card. You can choose to pay it off each night in cash but they still require a credit card to use the feature. That way they can still get their money even if you dont pay. :) You just wont have to carry the credit card and ID in the parks.

as long as i dont have to bring the credit card and my id!

yeah i'll carry some cash around just for emergency!

You can have a charging feature activated on any or all of your room keys when you check in. To do so you either leave a credit card imprint or leave cash/travellers checks/Disney Dollars to establish a line of credit. The limit differes among the resort categories: Value resorts=$500, Moderates=$1000, Deluxe=$1500.

Once you activate charging on your room key, any Disney-owned shop, restaurant, or merchandise cart that has a credit card machine (which is practically all of them, even the little carts) can take the room key as payment. Note that the key is not valid at any of the shops or restaurants in the Swan and Dolphin.

NOTE: If there is ever a glitch in the biometric scanner that checks your fingers when you submit your park pass to the gate, you may be asked for ID to get into the park. I recommend carrying ID with you at all times, anywhere you go, vacation or not.

I dont mean to start a debate but I asked this same question a few days ago and got no straight answers here so I called Disney CRO, the Carribean Beach, POR, POFQ, and Pop Century just to make absolutely sure about it and they all said that a credit card is required and they will not accept travelers cheques or cash deposits in leu of a credit card. You can pay the balance off each night with cash or TC but you still have to leave a CC number with them. It may have changed to this policy recently so you may not be aware of it. But it is this way now.

Our last trip in Dec I carried nothing but the room key. Everywhere you want to purchase something you can do it with the that card, from snack carts to sit downs, even at DTD.

But I did have to give cc to front desk at check in.

I love your tag quote: Puttin' Eisner's kids though college, one trip at a time!!

:rotfl:

Thanks...what do they say?... all great humor must have an element of truth to it. Well I feel that is the sad truth of my life. But sun will come out tomorrow. Maybe, hopefully, Eisner will be gone soon and I'll puttin' money in ol' Roy Jr's pocket. I dont think I will mind that as much.

PLEASE carry your ID with you at all times!

If something happens to you on the way there, or in the parks, you don't want to be a Jane Doe for who knows how long.

Plus, If you decide to go to Pleasure Island or buy a drink at EPCOT, you will need your ID for drinks ;)

oh about drinks!

can my bf buy 2 drinks at a time? with an id

and do they always ask for id when you are buying alcohol beverages?

If you have trouble with your passes, they want to see your ID before they let you in the park.

When did they change the policy about using cash or TC to set up room charges. Some people do not use credit cards.

Generally anyone who looks like that might be under 40 gets carded as far as getting a wristband at PI goes. At the bar, it's totally the bartender's discretion.

At PI, You can only buy one drink per wristband. I'm not sure if it's the same at the parks, but if your bf is going to buy you a drink you'd have to be there with him.

If you don't have your ID, and don't look like you are old enough to drink, they will stamp you as being under 21, and you will not be drinking.

I dont know how long this policy has been in effect but I was pretty torqued about it. I personally dont see the difference. But since I would like this feature it looks like I am going to have to use the CC.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhh.....Don't let my husband know this!!!! He is a spending machine!! I can see it now...I go up to the front desk after our first day in the parks and the CM says, "Yes ma'am, you're balance is $1500.00!!! I would have to lock him in the room for the rest of the trip!!! :rotfl2:

If that policy has changed, it has done so since December 9, 2004; on that day I put down $200 in Disney Dollars at Pop Century to enable charging on my room key.

We're tenting at Fort Wilderness. Will we get some sort of "key" that we could use to charge? And could we have things sent back to the desk, even though we're camping? :confused3

TIA!

DH was definately NOT allowed to purchase two glasses of champagne (one for each of us) at the cart in Epcot's France pavillion. I was resting my aching feet sitting on a bench nearby and the CM said she needed to see me as she was only allowed to sell one drink per person (maybe to ensure that a 2nd drink wouldn't go to someone under age?). Not sure if this is consistant everywhere on property...
